Good read!! Via salaf-us-saalih.com Naseehah from Shaykh Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Al-Bannaa

Naseehah (Advice) from Shaykh Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Al-Bannaa

by AbdurRahman.org Naseehah (Advice) from Shaykh Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Al-Bannaa Posted by Abdur-Raqeeb @ http://insightaudio.com/pub/?p=419

As Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh. May Allah have mercy upon me, you and all of the Muslims. Aameen.

Once, I entered the masjid for our class with our Shaykh Hasan Abdul-Wahhaab Marzouq Al-Bannaa (may Allah preserve him, and his family upon good), I found him praying. After I offered my prayer of greeting the masjid, I greeted the Shaykh, and kissed his head. We talked about how each of us spent our Eid and the conditions of our families. After this the Shaykh began to drink his tea, which was prepared for him.

I asked the Shaykh, how does one become a strong student, treading the path of seeking knowledge? The Shaykh replied, Patience (Sabr). He said this 3 times. He said patience with Allah, in good and bad times. Patience with yourself, patience with ease and with hardships. Patience with your family and friends. Patience with knowledge. Patience with the Qur’aan. Patience with learning the Arabic language. I thanked the Shaykh and returned to my place of sitting.

After a short while, the Shaykh motioned to me to come to him. He told me, not to waste time. He told me to guard my time from the time wasters. He told me not to waste my time with that which wont bring about any benefit. Guard your time against your desires. Give knowledge all of your time. Tire yourself with seeking knowledge. Do not become distracted by those who want to take your knowledge. Once again I thanked the Shaykh and returned to my place of sitting.

After a short period, the Shaykh motioned to me again to come to him. He told me to engulf myself in reading the Qur’aan. He said to read the Qur’aan in abundance. Over and over and over. He said to read the Qur’aan when you wake from your sleep, read the Qur’aan before you go to bed. The more you read the Qur’aan, the better you will become in the Arabic language. So constantly read the Qur’aan.

He also told me to listen to the tapes of the Ulamaa (major scholars), from the likes of Shaykh Al-Albaanee, Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen, Shaykh Ibn Baaz, and Shaykh Saalih Aali Shaykh.

Later on the Shaykh was asked about the rights of the Qur’aan. Is it better to read it or to memorize it?

He, the Shaykh (may Allah preserve him, and his family) said, one should read the Qur’aan. The Qur’aan is to be read. To memorize it is good. But if it cant be memorized, so read it. Read it in your prayers, before you sleep, when you wake. Before prayer and after prayer. Always have a mushaf (copy of the Qur’aan) near you, everywhere. In Shaa Allah.

May Allah have mercy upon us all.

9 Manhaj Points from Aisha’s (May Allah be pleased with her)

9 Manhaj Points from Aisha’s (May Allah be pleased with her) Test : “ Are you a Haraura?”

Mu’adha narrated: A woman asked ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), should I offer the prayers which I didn’t offer because of menses.” ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, “ Are you from Haraura (a town in Iraq). We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and used to get our periods, but he never orderd us to pray the missed prayers or ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, “ We did not offer them. “

Bukhari 321

Manhaj benefits for this hadeeth:

1. Haraura was a village near Kufa in Iraq where the Kharijites for the first time appeared. There is a sect of the Khawarij who regard prayer compulsory for menstruating women, therefore when their periods conclude they must make up the missed prayers.

2. Shaikh Muhammad bin Ramzaan Al-Haajiree (may Allah preserve him) said,” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) educated and taught his wife ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about and warned her from desires and fitnah. This is found in another hadeeth collected by Bukhari. ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the verse: ‘ It is He Who sent down to you the Book. In it are verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundation of the Book; and others not entirely clear. So ,as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof seeking for its hidden meanings; but no one knows it hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: We believe in it; the whole of it are from our Lord.” And none receive admonition except men of understanding.[ Bukhari 4547]. This is the approach of people with knowledge. They warn the people from desires and innovation.

3. Warning about innovation and its people is creed and religion, even in the questions related to purification and abnormal discharge.

4. This woman had zeal to understand the affairs of her religion. This is the importance of knowledge- i.e Knowledge before action. For this reason, it’s obligatory for us to seek knowledge. Knowledge built on the Quran, Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf. Therefore we worship Allah with knowledge, and if there is anything that we are uncertain about we return to the scholars. By returning to the scholars we benefit from their understanding and guidance.

5. Based on ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) words,” Are you a Haruara” we learn that sometimes a person can be judged based on affiliation. This was one of the issues which affected the Khawarij. And consequently Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) doubted this woman, so she asked her in order to know her position towards this misguided sect- Al-Haruara.

6. This hadeeth refutes those people who deny classifying people into the groups and catergories; Sunni and Bid’ee, Salafy and Khalafee ,etc. This classifying of people is built on knowledge, proof, evidences, fairness and Taqwa.

7. This hadeeth shows that it’s a must for a person who is accused of something or if an innovation or misguidance is connected to him to free himself from it. He must defend himself and explain his true stance clearly without any detours and evasions. This resembles what the woman did when she said, “ I am not a Haruara.

8. Even though this woman was ignorant she was tested in an issue of purification which is connected to her prayer. These acts of worship were very crucial in her life. And although she was ignorant about them, she still knew who the Haruara sect was. She knew that sect was misguided, therefore she hurried and freed herself from being among them. She did that because the origin of warning from desires and innovation was a universal methodology and way during her lifetime. The people of knowledge used to warn the people from these desires. The people of knowledge during that time used to talk about these false groups high and low. They did this so the people were on alert about misguidance and its carriers.

9. This hadeeth refutes the people who say the Salafee’s( Ahulus Sunnah) are wrong for warning people about Ahul Bid’a wal Ahwa. They consider Ahulus Sunnah as being wrong for this act with the claim the people need to understand Tahara and prayer… All praises to Allah , the people of the Sunnah, the scholars and students of knowledge explain the important and needed issues to the people for their religion. Furthermore at the same time they warn the people about desires; as desires has a dangerous affect on the people.

Bordem is the Enemy

As salaamou alikum

Insha allah this message will reach ya'll in good health and eeman,

I was Reading Sister Empress Anisa's blog About Boredom and I would like to add somethings my Self. Bordem is an enemy because idle time as well as talk and be a tool of the shaytan. and we can find many ways to Stamp out bordem.
This Link will aide in some Suggestion to increase ones Ilm to get away from these thoughts insha allah.

The Etiquettes Of The Seeker Of Knowledge

To bring ones self closer to Allah will fix all issues of Bordem or wasted time and When we reflect upon our life and the Jounrney Allah has Alloted us to take. Reflecting on Tawheed and the beautiful names of Allah.

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said:

"Allah the Almighty has said: 'Whosoever acts with enmity towards a closer servant of Mine (wali), I will indeed declare war against him. Nothing endears My servant to Me than doing of what I have made obligatory upon him to do. And My servant continues to draw nearer to Me with supererogatory (nawafil) prayers so that I shall love him. When I love him, I shall be his hearing with which he shall hear, his sight with which he shall see, his hands with which he shall hold, and his feet with which he shall walk. And if he asks (something) of Me, I shall surely give it to him, and if he takes refuge in Me, I shall certainly grant him it.'"
The translation of the term wali that is mentioned in the hadith is a closer servant (awliya') of Allah or a believer rather than a closer friend. There are many verses in the Qur'an that talk about the concept of wilayah. These verses talk about the qualities or attributes of awliya' and their status in the sight of Allah. In this hadith Allah mentions the status of the wali even before He talks about His attributes. This status is mentioned in the beginning (i.e. Allah will declare war against whoever acts with enmity towards one of His closer servants) and in the end (i.e. Allah will answer their du'a and will give them refuge). This shows the status of awliya' in the sight of Allah. In the middle of the hadith, Allah tells us the qualities of His closer servants.
The hadith also tells us that Allah loves those who are the closer servants to Allah. This is a natural result of what they do. Allah tells us about their actions upon which they deserved to be loved by Allah. We will see that there are two levels of servants of Allah: The first level is those who fulfill the obligations and avoid the prohibitions (muharramat). The second level is those who not only do this but also perform the preferable acts (nawafil).
he concept of wilayah (awliya' Allah) is based on the verses of the Qur'an and this hadith. In the Qur'an there are three verses in Surah Yunus - Ayah 62, 63 and 64.
No doubt verily the awliya' of Allah (the closer servants of Allah) no fear shall come upon them nor shall they grieve. Those who believed and used to fear Allah much, for them are the glad tidings in this life and the Hereafter.
Based on these three verses and this Hadith Qudsi, we can say that the concept of wilayah comprises of the following:
  1. The love of Allah
  2. Fearing of Allah
  3. Belief or faith in Allah and his Messengers
  4. Devotion, honesty, and sincerity
  5. Obedience to Allah and following His instructions - this include performing good deeds. This motif of this obedience is based on fear of Allah, repenting to Allah and submission to His will.
The origin of wilayah is closeness to Allah and the enmity is being far away from the path of Allah. Based on this, the awliya' of Allah are those who are obedient and perform the good deeds which make them closer to Allah. The enemies of Allah, on the other hand, are those who are evil doers. Their ill deeds distance themselves away from Allah and this will make them far from Allah's blessing, support, and love.
[Al-Bukhari]
So once we Fullfill our Or obligations we can rest Assured we want be bordem, lol

The Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, used to say the following in his du'a: "O Allah I ask You that You love me and the love of those who love You and to enable me also to love every act and deed that may bring me closer to You"

Early scholars say that the actions and the worship that are based on the love of Allah will continue and never be depressed or frustrated. Some others say that the one who loves Allah will not get fed up or bored of getting closer to Allah. He never feels that he is bored of doing good deeds and acts that will get him closer to Allah. Other scholars say that for the one who loves Allah, his heart is purified and he always remembers Allah. He always seeks and strives to do good deeds and acts that will get him closer to Allah. He does all of this with pleasure.

Muharram: the Month of Allah

Muharram : The Month of Allah

Taken from As-Sunnah Bimonthly Islamic Newsletter
The Islamic Year initiates with a sacred month - the month of Allah: Muharram

"Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year) so was it ordained by Allah on the day, when he created the Heaven and the Earth; of them four are Sacred - that is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein…." [Soorah at-Tawbah (9): 36]

The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "The year is of twelve months, four of which are sacred; three consecutive months Dhul-Qidah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram, and Rajab…" [Saheeh al-Bukharee] and he said: "The best of fast after Ramadaan is in the month of Allah - 'Muharram' and the best of prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer during night." [Saheeh Muslim]

The phrase 'Allah's month' connecting the 'month' to the name of Allah is a grammatical structure, signifying the importance, status and adoration of this month with Allah. One should be very careful to avoid sins in this month because just as good deeds have a greater reward in this month, sins are in it more abominable.

Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) commented about the (above-mentioned) verse "…so wrong not yourselves therein…." [Soorah at-Tawbah (9): 36] saying: "It is referred to all the months, but four months were singled out and made more sacred, violation of these months is a grave sin; sins committed during these months are more serious, and good deeds during these months will be more greatly rewarded."

THE MOST VIRTUOUS DAY OF MUHARRAM

The most virtuous day of this month is the Day of Ashoorah - the tenth of Muharram.

It is reported in Saheeh al-Bukharee, when Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) came to Madeenah, he saw the Jews fasting on the day of Ashoorah. He said: 'What is this?' They said: 'This is the day when Allah saved Moosa from drowning, so we fast on this day.' Then he said: "We have more right to Moosa than you." So he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) fasted on this day and advised the Muslims to do the same.

Also, Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) narrated: "When Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) observed the fast of the day of Ashoorah and ordered (the Sahabah) to fast, they said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is a day revered by Jews and Christians." Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: "The coming year, if Allah wills, we will fast on the ninth (also)." [Saheeh Muslim, vol: 1, p: 359]

Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) also reported: "I never saw the Prophet more keen to fast on any day other than the day of Ashoorah and any month than the month of Ramadaan." [Saheeh al-Bukharee]

The phrase 'more keen' of Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu) indicates that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) looked forward to fast on the day of Ashoorah in order to earn the reward for doing so, he Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam): "Fasting the day of Ashoorah, I hope will be an expiation of sins for the year before." [Saheeh Muslim v: 1, p: 368]

Thus, the day of Ashoorah is mercy from Allah and an opportunity for one to get his sins forgiven. It is recommended for the Muslim Ummah to fast both the tenth and the ninth of Muharram since Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) fasted the tenth and intended to fast the ninth.

Ruling on Dhikr Beads

ismillah Hirrahma Nirrahim. (In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent the Merciful).

The Ruling of Al-Misbahah (Dhikr beads)

Al-Imaam Al-Albaanee (rahimahullaah) discusses Dhikr beads

Ash-Shaikh Muhammad Naasir ud-Deen Al-Albaanee said in As-Silsilah Adh-Dha'eefah (1/110) with his checking of the hadeeth "What a wonderful reminder the subhah (dhikr beads) are." (A fabricated hadeeth):

Then, verily the hadeeth, in reference to its meaning, is false according to me for reasons:

The first:

That the subhah (dhikr beads) is an innovation that did not exist in the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). It was only introduced after him (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), so how could it be thought that he encouraged his companions to do a matter that they did not even know (i.e. dhikr beads were not known to them)?

And the proof regarding what I have mentioned is what Ibn Wadhdhaah reported in "Al-Bida' wan-Nahy 'anhaa" (Innovations and the Prohibition of them), on the authority of As-Salt bin Bahraam that he said,

"Ibn Mas'ood passed by a woman who had a tasbeeh (string of beads) with her that she was using to glorify Allaah, so he cut it and threw it away. Then he passed by a man who was glorifying Allaah using pebbles so he kicked them with his foot, then said,

'Indeed you all have went ahead (of the companions), you have wrongfully engaged in an innovation, and indeed you have overcome the companions of Muhammad (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) in knowledge.'"

And the chain of narrators of this narration is authentic (Saheeh) back to As-Salt, and he is reliable from the followers of the successors (Atbaa' ut-Taabi'een, third generation).

The second:

That it opposes his (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) guidance. 'Abdullaah bin 'Amr said, "I saw the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) counting the glorification of Allaah with his right hand."

And Al-Albaanee also said (1/117): And if there was nothing in the dhikr beads other than one evil, and it is that it has overcome the Sunnah of counting with the fingers or it almost has – this is along with their agreement that the fingers are better – then this would be sufficient (as an evil). For verily it is rare that I see an old man counting the glorification of Allaah on his fingers!

Then, verily the people have become specialized in inventing things along with this innovation. So you will see some of those who attribute themselves to one of the Soofee paths hanging thikr beads around his neck! And some of them count (the remembrance of Allaah) while they are speaking to you or listening to you talk!

And the last thing that my eye fell upon from that some days ago was that I saw a man on an ordinary bicycle riding along on it on some roads crowded with people, and in one of his hands was some thikr beads! So they try to show to the people that they are not heedless of the remembrance of Allaah even for the blinking of an eye.

And often times this innovation is the cause of losing the performance of that which is obligatory, for indeed it has happened to me repeatedly – and likewise to others besides me – that I have given the greeting of Salaam (peace) to one of these people, so he responds to the greeting by waving without saying the Salaam. And the harms of this innovation cannot be counted, so how beautiful is the statement of the poet:

"And every good is in following those who went before (salafa),
and every evil is in the innovating of those who came after (khalafa)."

Outstanding Attributes of the Saved Sect

Outstanding Attributes of the Saved Sect

by Shaikh Muhammad ibn Salih Al-'Uthaimeen (may Allaah have mercy on him)

Question: What are the most outstanding attributes of the Saved Sect? And does a deficiency in any of these attributes remove a person from the Saved Sect?

Answer, by Shaikh Al-'Uthaimeen: The most outstanding attributes of the Saved Sect are adherence to that which the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) followed in beliefs, worship, character and conduct - one finds these four things outstanding in them.

In beliefs, one finds them holding fast to what is proven by the book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) , sincerely declaring the Oneness of Allaah in matters of worship, Lordship, and Names and Attributes.

In worship, we find that this sect stands out due to its complete adherence and implementation of what followed by the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) in acts of worship in all of their forms, their characteristics, their numbers, their times, their places and their causes. And one does not find them innovating in the religion of Allaah; rather they behave in the best manner towards Allaah and His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) and they do not precede Allaah nor His Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) including anything in their acts of worship which was not permitted by Allaah.

In character, one finds that likewise, they stand out from others due to their fine character, such as in their love of what is good for the Muslims, their open heartedness, cheerful faces, good way of speaking, generosity, bravery and other noble traits of character and qualities.

In conduct, one finds them treating the people with honesty and openness, and these two qualities were referred to by the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) in his words:

Both parties in a business transaction have the right to annul it as long as they have not separated; and if they speak the truth and make everything clear, they will be blessed in their transaction; but if they tell a lie and conceal anything, the blessing on their transaction will be blotted out." [1]

A deficiency in these characteristics [character and conduct] does not prevent a person from being among the Saved Sect, but everyone will be at a level according to his deeds; and deficiency in matters of Tawheed might remove one from the Saved Sect, such as violations in Ikhlas [2] and likewise due to committing innovations, for a person might commit innovations that prevent him from being among the Saved Sect.

Regarding the matter of character and conduct, deficiency in them does not remove one from this sect, even though it may diminish his status.

We might require a more detailed explanation of the matter of character, for among the most important aspects of good character is unity of voice and agreement upon the truth which Allaah, the Most High has enjoined upon us in His words:

He (Allaah) has ordained for you the same religion (Islam) which He ordained for Nuh (Noah), and that which We have inspired in you (O Muhammad), and that which We ordained for Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Mosesý) and 'Iesa (Jesus) saying you should establish religion (i.e. to do what it orders you to do practically) , and make no divisions in it (religion) (i.e. various sects in religion). Intolerable for the Mushrikun , is that to which you (O Muhammad) call them. Allaah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides unto Himself who turns to Him in repentance and in obedience. (Ash-Shura 42:13)

And He has informed us that Muhammad (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) is innocent of those who are divided in the matter of their religion and break up into sects, for Allaah, the Almighty, the All-Powerful says:  ý

Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad) have no concern with them in the least... (Al-An'aam 6:159)

So unity of voice and harmony of the hearts are among the most outstanding characteristics of the Saved Sect - Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jama'ah, and when differences occur between them arising from Ijtihad in matters in which it is permissible to exercise juristic reasoning, they bear neither resentment nor enmity, nor hatred towards each other. Rather, they feel that they are brothers even if this difference occurs between them, so much so that one of them will even pray behind a person whom he considers is not in a state of ritual impurity, while the Imam considers that he is in a state of ritual impurity.

For example, when of them prays behind a person who has eaten camel meat and that Imam considers that it does not invalidate his ablution, while the one who is being led in prayer believes that it does invalidate his ablution, yet he considers his prayer behind that Imam correct, even though, if it were he who was praying it himself, he would consider that his prayer was not correct.

All of this is because they hold the view that differences arising out of Ijtihad, in matters that it is permissible to exercise Ijtihad, are not in truth differences. Because each of those who are in disagreement has followed the evidence which he is obliged to follow, evidences it is not permissible for him to renounce. So, they hold the view that their brother, if he disagrees with them in any particular action - following some evidence - then he is in fact in agreement with them, because they call to compliance with the evidence, wherever it may be. If he disagrees with them, in accordance with some evidence which he has, then he is in truth in agreement with them, because he is acting in conformity with what they call and guide to, which is to judge by the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) .

The differences which occurred between the companions, may Allaah be pleased with them, in such matters as these are well known to many of the scholars, even in the time of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) and he did not rebuke any of them. Because when he (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) returned from the Battle of Al-Ahzab and Jibril ('alaihi salaam) came to him and directed him to attack Banu Quraizah, who had violated their treaty, he commissioned his companions, may Allah be pleased with them, saying, "None of you should pray the 'Asr prayer except at Banu Quraizah." [3]

So, they left Al-Madinah for Banu Quraizah and the time for the 'Asr prayer overtook them. Some of them delayed the 'Asr prayer until they reached Banu Quraizah after the expiry of the time for it, because the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) had said: None of you should pray the 'Asr prayer except at Banu Quraizah.

Some of them performed the prayer at its stated time and they said: The Messenger (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) wanted us to set out early for Banu Quraizah and he did not want us to delay the prayer past its stated time. They (the latter group) were right, but in spite of this, the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) did not rebuke anyone among the two groups, and neither of the two groups held any enmity or rancor towards the other, due to their differing in understanding these words.

For this reason, I consider it an obligation upon the Muslims who claim adherence to the Sunnah to be one people, and not to divide into factions, this one belonging to this group and that one belonging to that group, and the third belonging to a third group and so on, causing them to attack each other with hostile words, harboring enmity and hatred towards each other due to differences in matters where it is permissible to exercise juristic reasoning (Ijtihad). There is no need to single out every faction by name but the wise person understands, and the matter is clear to him.

I consider that it is an obligation upon Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah to unite, even if they disagree in some matters which is necessitated by the evidences according to their understanding. Because there is room for accommodation in these matters, all praise and thanks is to Allaah.

The important thing is that hearts should be in harmony and that people should speak with one voice, for there is no doubt that the enemies of the Muslims love to see the Muslims divided, whether they be enemies who openly display their enmity, or enemies who give the appearance of being friends to the Muslims or to Islam while they are not so. So, it is incumbent upon us to be distinguished by this characteristic of the Saved Sect, and that is to speak with one voice.

The Qur'an is a Cure

AsSalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

The Qur'an is a Cure

Compiled and translated by
Abdulilah Lahmami

Allaah said that his Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said,

"And He feeds me and quenches my thirst And when I fall sick then He (Allaah) cures me." [Soorah Shu'araa: 80]

Some scholars of Tafseer explain that there is a relation between what we eat and drink and falling sick since most people fall ill because of their diet. This could be a reason why Allaah mentioned that Ibrahim (peace be upon him) recognized that Allaah is the One who provides sustenance for us but that sickness is due to our own self and this is why sickness is mentioned after food and drink in this Verse.

"And We sent down of the Qur'an that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe." [Soorah Israa: 82]

A healing to 'those who believe" showing the importance of rectifying our belief and actions such that we are true believers if we want the Qur'an to benefit us.

Ayub (peace be upon him) called upon his Lord, "And remember Ayub when he cried to his Lord: Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." [Soorah al-Anbiyaa: 83] When he was inflicted with harm.

And the reply came from his lord:

"We answered him and removed the distress that was on him" [Soorah al-Anbiyaa: 84]

"O mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (Qur'an) enjoining all that is good and forbidding all that is evil, and a healing for that which is in your breasts, a guidance and a mercy for the believers." [Soorah Yunus: 57]

This shows us that the Qur'an has four benefits:
  1. A good advice
  2. Cure for our hearts from all diseases
  3. Guidance
  4. Mercy for mankind
"Say: it (the Qur'an) is a healing for those who believe, a guide and healing" [Soorah Fusilaat: 44]

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says:

Allaahumma inni abduka ibn abdika ibn amatika naasiyati bi yadika, maada fi hukmika, adlun fiy qadaaika. Asaluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw istatharta bihi fi ilm il-ghayb indaka an tajal al-Quraana rabee qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa huzni wa dhihaab hammi

(O Allaah, I am Your slave, son of Your male and female slave, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You have named Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the Unseen with You, that You make the Quraan the harvest of my heart and the light of my chest, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety),

but Allaah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy.

He was asked: O Messenger of Allaah, should we learn this? He said: Of course; everyone who hears it should learn it.

"And if Allaah tests you with affliction, there is none who can remove it but He" [Soorah Yunus: 107]
"And He will give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people." [Soorah Tawbah: 14]

When you sleep read ayat al-Kursi

Abu Hurairah reported  that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, "When you are about to sleep recite Ayatul Kursi till the end of the Verse for there will remain for you a protection from Allaah and no devil will draw to you until morning." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree]

The last two Verses of Soorah al-Baqara

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said, whoever recites the last two Verses of Soorah al-Baqara at night, those two Verses shall be sufficient for him." [Saheeh al-Bukhaarree and Saheeh Muslim]

The last three chapter of the Qur'an

When retiring to his bed every night, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) would hold his palms together, blow into them, recite the last three chapters of the Qur'an and then wipe his entire body as much as possible with his hands, beginning with the head and face and then all parts of the body, he would do this three times." [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

Soorah al-Falaq and Soorah Naas

Aisha said "when someone fell ill from the Prophet's family he did 'nafath' on them (to blow three times over them reciting the two chapters of seeking refuge -Soorah al-Falaq and Soorah Naas). When he himself fell ill, the illness which lead to his death I would (similarly) do 'nafath' on him and would wipe him with his own hands for it was more blessed that my hands. [Saheeh Muslim]

We turn to Allaah in distress

Allaah said regarding Dhun Nun when called upon Allaah to remove his distress and Allaah replied,
"We answered his call and delivered him from the distress. And thus We do deliver the believers." [Soorah anbiyaa: 87,88]

We turn to Allaah when people try to harm us

"And you will remember what I am telling you, and I leave my affair with Allaah, verily Allaah is ever watchful over His slaves." [Soorah Ghaafir: 44]

And after it Allaah said:

"So Allaah saved him from the evils that they plotted (against him), while an evil torment encompassed Fir'aun's people." [Soorah Ghaafir: 45]

Soorah Faatihah is a cure

It is also a cure when read over the sick. They are cured by the permission of Allaah because the Prophet Sallalhu Alaihi wa sallam said to Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) after he read it over a person who had been bitten by a scorpion and was cured, How did you come to know that it is a cure?

There is a new book which was a lecture by sheikh Rabee' on Ruqya.

Mashaallaah the sheikh clearly shows that it is not correct for someone to put themselves forward in taking money to perform Ruqya on others if however they are given something then that is in line with the narration of Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri radiallaahu 'anhu as mentioned earlier. Nowadays he says people are making it into a business and competing with each other to see who can make the most money by charging others for their ruqya. Sheikh Rabee' explained that the people Abu Sa'eed did ruqya for gave them sheep in return for being cured but nowadays these people who put themselves forward ask for money beforehand whether the person is cured or not! At the end of the book the sheikh discusses the importance of being well-mannered and having brotherhood. A nice read mashaallaah.

The Majority is not a Proof that Something is Correct!!

AsSalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

The Majority is not a Proof that something is Correct

AUTHOR: Shaikh Saalih Al-Fawzaan

SOURCE: Sharh Masaa'il-ul-Jaahiliyyah (pg.60-62)
PRODUCED BY: Al-Ibaanah. com

Imaam Muhammad bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab ( rahimahullaah) said:

[5] From the greatest of their principles was that they would be deluded by the majority, using that to determine the correctness of a matter. They would also determine the falsehood of something if it was strange and that its adherents were few. So Allaah brought them the opposite of that, clarifying this in many places of the Qur'aan.

- the explanation -

From the characteristics of the people of the Days of Ignorance is that they would view the majority as proof that something was true and the minority as proof hat something was false. So according to them, whatever the majority of the people was upon, that was the truth. And whatever the minority was upon, that was not the truth. In their eyes, this was the balance used to determine truth from falsehood. However, this is wrong, for Allaah says: "And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allaah's path. They follow nothing but conjecture, and they do nothing but lie." [Surah Al-An'aam: 116]

And He says: "But most of mankind know not." [Surah Al-A'raaf: 187]

And He says: "And most of them We found to be not true to their covenant, but most of them We found indeed to be evil sinners." [Surah Al-A'raaf: 102]

So the balance is not the majority and the minority. Rather, the balance is the truth. So whoever is upon the truth, even if he is by himself, he is the one who is correct and deserves to be emulated. And if the majority of the people are upon falsehood, then it is obligatory to reject them and not be deceived by them. So consideration is given to the truth. This is why the scholars say: "Truth is not known by way of men, but rather men are known by way of the truth." So whoever is upon the truth, then he is the one we must follow and emulate.

In Allaah's stories about the prior nations, He informs us that it is always the minority that is upon the truth, as Allaah says: "And no one believed with him except for a few." [Surah Hood: 40]

And in a hadeeth in which the nations were presented to the Prophet, he (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said that he saw a prophet that had a small group of followers with him, and a prophet that had a man or two men following him, and another prophet that had no one with him. So consideration is not given to which opinion or view has the most followers. Rather, consideration is given to its being either true or false. So whatever is true, even though a minority of the people or no one is upon it – so long as it is the truth – it must be adhered to, for indeed it is salvation. Falsehood is not aided by the fact that it has a majority of people following it, ever. This is a determining measure that the Muslim must always abide by.

The Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: "Islaam began strange and it will return back to being strange as it began." This will occur at the time when evil, calamities and misguidance increase. So no one will remain upon the truth except for the strange ones amongst the people and those who extract themselves from their tribes (for the sake of their religion). They will become strangers in their society. The Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was sent while the whole world was submersed in disbelief and misguidance. And when he called the people, only one or two answered his call. It was only until later on that they grew to be many. The tribe of Quraish, not to mention the whole of the Arabian Peninsula and the whole world, was upon misguidance. And the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was the only one calling the people. So those that followed him were few with respect to the entire world.

So consideration is not given to the majority. Consideration is only given to what is correct and to achieving the truth. Yes, if the majority of the people are upon correctness, then that is good. However, the way of Allaah is that the majority of the people is always upon falsehood.

"And most of mankind will not believe even if you desire it eagerly." [Surah Yoosuf: 103]

"And if you obey most of those on earth, they will mislead you far away from Allaah's path. They follow nothing but conjecture, and they do nothing but lie." [Surah Al-An'aam: 116]

What is the Ruling on a Religiously Disobedient Person? Shukran Umm NuNu

Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim

Innal hamdulillah ir Rabbil alamin wa salaatu wa salaamu ala Muhammadan abduhu wa Rasooluhu wa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma'een, amma ba'd....

The one who has Eemaan and singles out Allaah with all his worship but persists in committing acts of disobedience is considered to be :

1. A believer due to the Eemaan he possesses

2. A faasiq** due to his abandoning some of the obligatory requirements of Eemaan.

3. One who deserves the promise of reward due to his Eemaan.

4. One who deserves the threat of punishment due to his disobedience.

5. And one who will not be made to stay in the Hellfire eternally (if he is punished).

So complete, absolute Eemaan prevents one from entering the Hellfire, while deficient Eemaan only prevents one from being made to stay eternally in the Hellfire.***

**note~ Faasiq :( فا سِق       ) a disobedient ,rebellious person

***note~ This is a refutation of the Khawaarij, those who opposed the Ahlus Sunnah by expelling Muslims from the Religion and calling them Disbelievers who must reside in the Hellfire due to sins they have committed.

This is an excert, taking from the book Eemaan and Obstacles in the Path of Eeman .. excellent book mashaa'Allah ..

Who is a true Believer?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

(1. Successful indeed are the believers.) (2. Those who with their Salah are Khashi`un.) (3. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw.) (4. And those who pay the Zakah.) (5. And those who guard their private parts.) (6. Except from their wives or their right hand possessions, for then, they are free from blame.) (7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.) (8. Those who are faithfully true to their Amanat and to their covenants are Ra`un.) (9. And those who strictly guard their Salawat.) (10. These are indeed the heirs. ) (11. Who shall inherit Firdaws. They shall dwell therein forever.)

Fw: [salam] Takbeer in the 'Eids

AsSalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

Allaah, The Most High, says:

"(He wants you) to complete the same number (of days) and that must magnify Allaah (takbeer) for having guided you and so that you may be grateful to Him."34

Indeed it is established that the Prophet (SAW) used to emerge on the day of 'Eid-ul-Fitr and say the takbeer up until he reached the musallaa and up until he had performed the prayer. So when he had performed the prayer he stopped saying the takbeer.35

The scholar of hadeeth al-Albaanee said:

"This hadeeth contains evidence concerning the legality of what the Muslims are acting upon, from saying the takbeer aloud on the way to the musallaa; even though many Muslims have become negligent of this Sunnah to such an extent that it has nearly become a 'thing that was'......

From that which is appropriate to remind us of at this point, is that saying the takbeer aloud does not mean that it is permitted to say it in unison, as some people do. Likewise, all other supplications in which raising the voice has or has not been prescribed, then reciting the supplication in unison is not permissible. So be cautious of this and let us always focus our eyes upon the fact that the best guidance is the guidance of the Prophet (SAW)."36

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah was asked about the time when the takbeer should be recited during the 'Eids. So he replied:

"All praise be to Allaah. The most correct opinion with regard to reciting the takbeer is that which the majority of the Salaf, the jurists from amongst the Companions and its A'immah are upon, - that is to say the takbeer after every prayer from Fajr (Dawn) on the day of 'Arafah until the last day of Tashreeq. It is permitted for everyone to say the takbeer aloud when proceeding to the 'Eid prayer and this is agreed upon by the four Imaams."37

I say: His (may Allaah have mercy upon him) saying: After every prayer - in particular - is a matter for which there is no evidence. Rather the correct opinion is that it is at all times without particularisation.

This is inferred upon by the saying of al-Bukhaaree in the chapter on the two Eid's in his book as-Saheeh (2/461): "Chapter: Takbeer in the days of Mina and when proceeding to Arafah."

'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to make takbeer in his tent in Mina such that the people in the masjid could hear him and so they would make takbeer and the people in the market would make takbeer such that Mina would resound with the takbeer.

Ibn Umar (may allaah be pleased with him) used to make takbeer in Mina on these days, after every prayer, while reclining on his couch, in his tent, in his gatherings and when walking all in these days.

Maimoonah (may Allaah be pleased with her) would make takbeer on the day of Nahr. The women used to make takbee, alongside with Abaan Ibn Uthmaan and 'Amr Ibn Abdul-Aziz during the nights of Thasreeq with the men in the masjid.

When Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) would leave (his house) on the morning of 'Eid-ul-Fitr and 'Adhaa and he would say the takbeer aloud until he reached the musallaa and then make tak beer until the Imaam came.38

The manner of saying takbeer has not been authentically reported in a hadeeth of the Prophet (SAW) from that which I know, but it has been reported from some of the Companions (may Allaah be pleased with them all).

Ibn Mas'ood used to say:

<< Allaahu-Akbar. Allaahu-Akbar. Laa ilaaha illallah. Wa-Allaahu Akbar. Allaahu-Akbaar. Wa lillaahil-Hamd>>

(Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest. There is none who has the right to be worshipped except Allaah. Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest and to Allaah belongs all praise.)

Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to say: <<

(Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest and to Allaah belongs all praise. Allaah is the Greatest and the Most Sublime. Allaah is the Greatest to that which He has guided us to.)

Abdur-Razzaq transmits by the isnaad of Baihaqee in his book as Sunan al-Kubra (3/316)- with an authentic chain of narration - from Salmaan al-Khair (may Allaah Pleased with him): "Make takbeer of Allaah: Say:

Allaahu-Akbar Allaahu-Akbar Allaahu-Akbar kabeera"

However many of the lay Muslims have opposed this dhikr that is established upon the salaf by innovated dhikr and additions which have no basis at all. Thus Haafidh Ibn Hajr (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Fath ul-Baaree (2/536): "indeed additions41 have been invented. on this day, which have no basis."
