Eid-ul-Hubb(Valentines Day)

Question:

In the recent times there has spread the celebrating of `Eid ul-Hubb (Valentine's Day) – particularly among the female students. And it is a holiday from the holidays of the Christians, and the clothing will be completely in red garments and shoes, and they exchange red flowers with each other. We hope from your eminence an explanation of the ruling of celebrating the likes of this holiday. What is your advice to Muslims regarding the likes of these affairs, and may Allaah preserve you and protect you?

Answer:

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, the Giver of Mercy Wa `alaykumus-salaam wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh Celebrating the Holiday of Love (i.e. Valentine's Day) is not permissible for various reasons.
  • The first: That is an innovated holiday that has no basis for it in the Sharee'ah.
  • The second: That it calls to passion and infatuation.
  • The third: That it calls to busying the heart with the likes of these affairs that are trivial and opposed to the guidance of the Righteous Predecessors (As-Salaf us-Saalih), may Allaah be pleased with them.
So it is not permissible to introduce on this day (i.e. Valentine's Day) anything from the aspects of holiday celebrating, regardless of whether it is foods, or drinks, or clothing, or exchanging gifts, or other than that.

It is incumbent upon the Muslim to be distinguished and noble with his religion, and that he not be a characterless person who follows everyone who cries out.

I ask Allaah, the Most High, to protect the Muslims from all of the trials, whatever is apparent or hidden of them, and that He guards over us with His care and His aid.

My eid

As salaamou alikum Wa Rahmantuallahi wa baraktu,

Lol i posted in my last Blog about my Eid it was a wonderful day and today ain't to bad either so i will repost it here. but on the days of Eid i wish i was back in Egypt Again i think it is better there. but here it goes. I have some pictures coming. insha allah to share with ya'll it was darn cold lol the whole time i was at the Palvilion. but being around my sisters my heart was Warm and full of Cheer. We were unable to Slaugther this year insha allah next year and Sending money to Egypt would not be Sufficent to equal a sacrifice.

Ruling of Slaughtering Outside Your Town by Sheikh Uthaymeen and Shaykh Fawzan

The following is a summary translation of a post taken from http://www.sahab.net

Sheikh Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said,

"...the sacrifice is a clearly defined worship, because if the intent behind the sacrifice was to benefit the people with the meat then the people would have bought meat and gave it away as charity on the day of the Eid.

Rather, the most important thing is the sacrifice for Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, as Allaah the Exalted said, 'It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allaah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.' (Sura Hajj verse 37)

Then also, if you sent out money to another town for the sacrifice to be done for you then you have opposed the command of Allaah, because Allaah the Exalted said, 'Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor who have a very hard time.' (Sura Hajj verse 28)

And so is it possible for you to eat from it when it was sacrificed in Somalia?...No! Then you have opposed the command of Allaah.

And many of the Scholars have said, 'Eating from the sacrifice is obligatory and the person will be sinning if he leaves it off'.

And by this we know that the call to implore that money for the sacrifice is sent outside of the person's town is a call that is not correct.

And that it is not befitting for the people to partake in this, rather sacrifice at your houses and with your families and manifest the rites of Islaam in your town.

And whoever wants to benefit their brothers in the places where they are in need, then benefit them with money and with clothes and other than that.

But as for a rite from the rites of Islam that we use to draw near to Allaah by sacrificing and eating from it, then it is never befitting for the people to forsake this."

End of Sheikh's speech. (Tape entitled the rites of Hajj side one)

Shaykh Fawzan (may Allaah preserve him) said:

"And as for what has occurred from some of the people when they give the price of the animal to be sacrificed to a charitable organization to perform the sacrifice outside of the town and far away from the house of the one who intended the sacrifice, then this is opposed to the Sunnah and this is altering the worship.

Therefore, it is obligatory to leave off this alteration and to sacrifice at the homes and in the towns of the one who intends the sacrifice as comes in the Sunnah and as was done during the time of the Messenger of Allaah (Salalaahu alayhi wa Sallaam), before this invention occurred.

And verily I fear that this could be a bida' (innovation) .

And the Messenger of Allaah (Salalaahu alayhi wa Sallaam) said, 'Whoever introduces something into this affair of ours that is not from it will have it rejected.'

And he (Salalaahu alayhi wa Sallaam) also said, 'Beware of newly invented matters for every newly invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is astray.'

And whoever wants to give charity to those in need, then the door to charity is open and don't change the worship from its proper legislated method by giving it the name 'charity'."

So to that note it was only good to send money for them to get an animal for the selves we have to get are own and eat from the meat our selves allahu allim.

Well here is the post i made in Multiply enjoy!!

When to eat During Eid

AsSalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

When to eat during the 'Eid Al Adha

The renowned scholar Ibn al-Qayyim said:

"...as for 'Eid-ul- 'Adhaa, then he (SAW) would not eat until he returned from the musallaa and he would eat from his sacrifice."45

The renowned scholar as-Shawkaanee 46 said:

"The wisdom behind delaying eating on the day of 'Adhaa, is because it is a day in which slaughtering and eating from the sacrifice has been legislated. Therefore it has been prescribed that the eating be from the sacrifice. This view was held by Ibn Qudaamah."47

45. Zaad-ul-Ma'aad (1/441).

46. In Nail-ul-Awtaar (3/357).

47. Refer to al- Mughunee (2/371).

Fw: [salam] Takbeer in the 'Eids

AsSalam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu

Allaah, The Most High, says:

"(He wants you) to complete the same number (of days) and that must magnify Allaah (takbeer) for having guided you and so that you may be grateful to Him."34

Indeed it is established that the Prophet (SAW) used to emerge on the day of 'Eid-ul-Fitr and say the takbeer up until he reached the musallaa and up until he had performed the prayer. So when he had performed the prayer he stopped saying the takbeer.35

The scholar of hadeeth al-Albaanee said:

"This hadeeth contains evidence concerning the legality of what the Muslims are acting upon, from saying the takbeer aloud on the way to the musallaa; even though many Muslims have become negligent of this Sunnah to such an extent that it has nearly become a 'thing that was'......

From that which is appropriate to remind us of at this point, is that saying the takbeer aloud does not mean that it is permitted to say it in unison, as some people do. Likewise, all other supplications in which raising the voice has or has not been prescribed, then reciting the supplication in unison is not permissible. So be cautious of this and let us always focus our eyes upon the fact that the best guidance is the guidance of the Prophet (SAW)."36

Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah was asked about the time when the takbeer should be recited during the 'Eids. So he replied:

"All praise be to Allaah. The most correct opinion with regard to reciting the takbeer is that which the majority of the Salaf, the jurists from amongst the Companions and its A'immah are upon, - that is to say the takbeer after every prayer from Fajr (Dawn) on the day of 'Arafah until the last day of Tashreeq. It is permitted for everyone to say the takbeer aloud when proceeding to the 'Eid prayer and this is agreed upon by the four Imaams."37

I say: His (may Allaah have mercy upon him) saying: After every prayer - in particular - is a matter for which there is no evidence. Rather the correct opinion is that it is at all times without particularisation.

This is inferred upon by the saying of al-Bukhaaree in the chapter on the two Eid's in his book as-Saheeh (2/461): "Chapter: Takbeer in the days of Mina and when proceeding to Arafah."

'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to make takbeer in his tent in Mina such that the people in the masjid could hear him and so they would make takbeer and the people in the market would make takbeer such that Mina would resound with the takbeer.

Ibn Umar (may allaah be pleased with him) used to make takbeer in Mina on these days, after every prayer, while reclining on his couch, in his tent, in his gatherings and when walking all in these days.

Maimoonah (may Allaah be pleased with her) would make takbeer on the day of Nahr. The women used to make takbee, alongside with Abaan Ibn Uthmaan and 'Amr Ibn Abdul-Aziz during the nights of Thasreeq with the men in the masjid.

When Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) would leave (his house) on the morning of 'Eid-ul-Fitr and 'Adhaa and he would say the takbeer aloud until he reached the musallaa and then make tak beer until the Imaam came.38

The manner of saying takbeer has not been authentically reported in a hadeeth of the Prophet (SAW) from that which I know, but it has been reported from some of the Companions (may Allaah be pleased with them all).

Ibn Mas'ood used to say:

<< Allaahu-Akbar. Allaahu-Akbar. Laa ilaaha illallah. Wa-Allaahu Akbar. Allaahu-Akbaar. Wa lillaahil-Hamd>>

(Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest. There is none who has the right to be worshipped except Allaah. Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest and to Allaah belongs all praise.)

Ibn 'Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to say: <<

(Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest. Allaah is the Greatest and to Allaah belongs all praise. Allaah is the Greatest and the Most Sublime. Allaah is the Greatest to that which He has guided us to.)

Abdur-Razzaq transmits by the isnaad of Baihaqee in his book as Sunan al-Kubra (3/316)- with an authentic chain of narration - from Salmaan al-Khair (may Allaah Pleased with him): "Make takbeer of Allaah: Say:

Allaahu-Akbar Allaahu-Akbar Allaahu-Akbar kabeera"

However many of the lay Muslims have opposed this dhikr that is established upon the salaf by innovated dhikr and additions which have no basis at all. Thus Haafidh Ibn Hajr (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Fath ul-Baaree (2/536): "indeed additions41 have been invented. on this day, which have no basis."

Nevertheless it has (some) supporting narrations that strengthen it. Refer to Silsilatul Ahaadeeth as Saheehah (170). The takbeer begins from the time of the proceeding out to the musallaa until the prayer.

Hajj : Obligations and Condtions

As salaamou alikum,

Hajj is Fast Approaching and So is Eid Alhamdoulilah!! Let Remind of Are selves are Duties to Or Lord.

Haj: Obligation and conditions

By Shaykh Muhammad Saalih al-’Uthaimeen

Praise be to Allah, Who enjoined Haj to the Sacred House on His servants and gave good reward on that. Whoever performs Haj to the House and does not approach his wife for sexual relations nor commits sins while performing Haj, he will come out as sinless as a newly born child. An accepted Haj will be rewarded with nothing but Paradise.
I testify that there is none worthy to be worshipped but Allah, with Whom there is no associate, the Lord of Glory and Splendor. I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s servant and Messenger, the best of those who performed prayer, gave Zakaah, made Haj and observed fasting. May Allah bless him, his family, his Companions and those who will follow them on proper way until the Resurrection Day!
O people! Fear Allah and fulfil the obligation of Haj, which Allah enjoined on you, as much as you can. Allah the Almighty says which translates as: “In it are Signs manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah, those who can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures.” (Aal-’Imraan: 97)
The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Islam is to testify that there is no deity but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establish prayer, give Zakaah, observe fasting in Ramadan and make Haj to the House if you can afford it.”
The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said that Islam is founded on these five pillars, and that if any of these five is lacking Islam will be imperfect. ‘Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I was about to send envoys to the towns to check on all those who have the means to make Haj but do not perform it, in order to demand them to pay Jizyah; they are not Muslims, they are not Muslims.”
The obligation of Haj is confirmed by the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, as well as the consensus agreement of the Muslim scholars. Whoever denies the obligation of Haj will be regarded an infidel, and whoever abandons it because of his indifference to it, though he admits its obligation, he is on the verge of disbelief.
After mentioning the obligation of Haj, Allah says which translates as: “In it are Signs manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah, those who can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures.” (Aal-’Imraan: 97).
How can a Muslim feel assured when he abandons Haj while he is able to afford for it both financially and physically, though he is well aware that Haj is an obligation and one of the pillars of Islam? How can a Muslim withhold money from spending it in Haj, though he spends much of it in worldly pleasures?
How can a Muslim save himself the fatigue of Haj, while he exerts himself in the worldly endeavours? How can he slacken to perform Haj, while it is enjoined to be performed once during one’s lifetime? How can he procrastinate in performing Haj, while he does not know if his life will extend a day longer or not?
So, fear Allah, servants of Allah, and fulfil the obligation of Haj enjoined on you by Allah, with sincere devotion to Him, complying with His commandments and stimulated by the desire to obey Him, if you are truly believers.
Allah the Almighty said what means: “It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger, to have any option about their decision: if anyone disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path” (Al-Ahzab: 36).
If a believer performs Haj for once after he attains puberty, it will be sufficient for him and will fulfil this essential cornerstone of Islam. He will not be demanded to perform either Haj or ‘Umrah after that, unless he vows to make either of them, in which case he will be obliged to fulfil his vow. The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Let whoever vows to obey Allah fulfil his vow.”
O Muslims! It is an indication of Allah’s Mercy and Wisdom that he specified certain limits for His obligations, in order to well define responsibilities. Allah made such obligations most fit the doer, the place and the time in which such obligations should be fulfilled. Like all other obligations, Haj has certain limits and conditions that should first be fulfilled in order to demand a Muslim to perform Haj. Among the conditions of the obligation of Haj is to attain puberty.
Anyone who has not attained puberty will not be required to make Haj, even if he is financially able to do so. However, his or her Haj will be valid and he will get reward on it. On attaining puberty he will be required to make the obligatory Haj, since the Haj he made before attaining puberty does not absolve him from the obligatory Haj. Thus, if one accompanies his young children in Haj, both he and his children will get reward for Haj, and if he does not accompany them, neither he nor his children will incur sin.
One of the conditions of the obligation of Haj is the ability, both financially and physically. Allah the Almighty said what means: “In it are Signs manifest; (for example), the Station of Abraham; whoever enters it attains security; pilgrimage thereto is a duty men owe to Allah, those who are capable and can afford the journey; but if any deny faith, Allah stands not in need of any of His creatures” (Aal-’Imraan: 97).
Thus, if this condition is lacking, Haj becomes not obligatory. Financial ability is realised when someone owns enough money to undertake the journey of Haj after fulfilling his needs and the needs of his dependents including outlay, clothing and hire for his accommodation for one year, and after repaying the debts he owes to others, whose time of repayment is due.
If someone owns money, but needs it to fulfil any of the abovementioned obligations, he will not be obliged to make Haj. The same applies in the case of the one who is in debt, until he repays it. The term ‘debt’ includes all credits owed by a person, including loans, purchase prices, hires, etc.
Thus, one who owes, even one riyal, to another is considered a debtor and will not be obliged to make Haj unless he repays the debt he owes. Islam attaches so much importance to fulfilling debts that a martyr’s sins will be expiated except for the debts he owed. According to Islam, the soul of the deceased is suspended until his debt is repaid on his behalf.
The Haj obligation does not fall on a man whose deferred debt is guaranteed by a pledge equal to its value, rather the debtor will be requested to perform Haj if he has the means to do so. However, if the deferred debt is not guaranteed with a pledge that equals its value, the debtor will not be requested to perform Haj, unless he absolves himself from this debt.
Physical capability denotes that one has the ability to reach the Sacred House in Makkah on his own without difficulty. If he cannot do that, or can do it but with extreme difficulty, such as the case of the sick person, he may wait until his condition improves, if the improvement is possible. If he waits but dies before making Haj, Haj is to be made on his behalf, with the expenses taken from his legacy.
If his conditions are not likely to improve, such as the case of senility or chronic incurable diseases, he should authorise another person to make Haj on his behalf, either from his relatives or others. If he dies before assigning a person to make Haj on his behalf, any person may make Haj for him, with the expenses covered from the former’s legacy.
If a woman finds no Mahram (husband or male relative whom she cannot marry) to accompany her on the journey, she will not be obliged to perform Haj. In this case she will be regarded as those who do not have the ability to perform Haj, since she is legally banned from travel on a journey without a Mahram.
Ibn ‘Abbas said: I heard the Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) saying: “It is not permissible for a man to be alone with a woman, and no lady should travel except with a Mahram (i.e. her husband or a person whom she cannot marry in any case forever; e.g. her father, brother, etc.).” Then a man got up and said, “O Allah Messenger of Allah! I have enlisted in the army for such-and-such Ghazwah and my wife is proceeding for Haj.” Allah’s Apostle said, “Go, and perform the Haj with your wife.”
In this Hadith, the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) ordered the man to accompany his wife in the journey of Haj, without asking him whether she was young or that she would join a group of women in the journey. This formulates a proof that a woman is prohibited to travel without a Mahram on any occasion or by any means of transports, i.e. planes, cars, etc. A Mahram should be a mature male, as an immature person cannot serve the purpose of this condition, which is to preserve woman’s honour and chastity.
O Muslims, let those who fulfil the conditions of Haj perform it without delay before he is overtaken by death and then regret when it will be too late for regret.
Allah the Almighty says which translates as: “Turn ye to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped.”And follow the Best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you – of a sudden while ye perceive not! – “Lest the soul should (then) say: `Ah! Woe is me! In that I neglected (my Duty) towards Allah, and was but among those who mocked!’ “Or (lest) it should say: ‘If only Allah had guided me, I should certainly have been among the righteous!’ “Or (lest) it should say when it (actually) sees the Penalty: ‘If only I had another chance, I should certainly be among those who do good!’” (Az-Zumar: 54-58)
Whoever performs Haj, abiding by the legal rules, with sincere devotion to Allah and with adherence to the conduct of the Messenger of Allah, his Haj will be perfect, no matter whether that Aqiqah was slaughtered by his parents on the seventh day of his birth or not.
May Allah guide you and I to establish His ordinances and to abide by their limits, out of His Bounty and Generosity, for He is Most Bounteous and Most Generous.
I ask Allah’s Forgiveness for you and for me, for all Muslims from all sins. So, seek His Forgiveness, for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Who enjoined devotional practices in order to purify the souls and perfect faith, dividing them to that which is purely physical and that which is purely financial and other kinds of devotion, which combine the two types. I testify that there is no deity but Allah, with Whom there is no associate, the King, the Judge.
I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s servant and Messenger, who was sent to all humankind and Jinn. May Allah bless him, his family, his Companions and those who will follow them in the proper way until the Resurrection Day!
O people! Fear Allah, the Almighty and know that Haj is one of the best kinds of worship and the greatest in reward. It was related that the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “(The performance of) ‘Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Haj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise. Whoever performs Haj to this House (Ka’aba) and does not approach his wife for sexual relations nor commits sins (while performing Haj), he will come out as sinless as a newly born child. (Just delivered by his mother).”
Haj is a physical devotion that a servant is requested to fulfil in person, though a small part of it pertains to money, such as the offering of a sacrifice. However, the Prophet’s Sunnah clarified that proxy is permissible in Haj, in case one is unable to perform it on his own due to legal excuses.

It was relayed in Sahih Al-Bukhari on the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that: A woman said: “Messenger of Allah, my father is very old. There is an old obligation of Haj upon him from Allah, but he is not capable of sitting on the back of the camel.” Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “Perform Haj on his behalf.” This happened in the Farewell Pilgrimage.
Another woman came to the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) and said, “My mother had vowed to perform Haj but she died before performing it. May I perform Haj on my mother’s behalf?” The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) replied, “Perform Haj on her behalf. Had there been a debt on your mother, would you have paid it or not? So, pay Allah’s debt as He has more right to be paid.”
If a person has the ability to perform Haj in person, he is not permitted to authorise another person to make Haj on his behalf. Many people loosely resort to Haj by proxy in the case of supererogatory Haj, even if they are capable to perform it in person, thus depriving themselves from the reward attained from the fatigue of worship and all that it contains of remembrance, supplication, submissiveness to Allah, redoubling of reward, useful meetings, etc. In one of the two narrations reported from Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, he forbade proxy in supererogatory Haj for those who are capable to perform it in person.
Thus, a Muslim should not be careless concerning the matter of Haj; he should perform supererogatory Haj in person if he wishes, or provide pilgrims with money in order to share with them the reward of Haj.
O people! Haj is a kind of worship done by the servant as a means to please Allah and to attain reward in the Hereafter. A servant’s attention should not be completely diverted to attaining worldly gains through Haj. Unfortunately, many people who perform Haj on behalf of others do this solely for the sake of money, which is prohibited, since worldly considerations should not spoil worship.
Allah the Almighty says which translates as: “Those who desire the life of the Present and its glitter, to them We shall pay (the price of) their deeds therein, without diminution. They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire: vain are the designs they frame therein, and of no effect are the deeds that they do!” (Hud: 15-16).
He also says which translates as: “So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers, yea, with far more heart and soul. There are men who say: “Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!” But they will have no portion in the Hereafter.” (Al-Baqarah: 200).
Allah will not accept a worship done not for His sake. The Messenger of Allah prevented seeking worldly gains in the places of worship when he said: “If you see a man indulges in a transaction in the mosque, say to him, ‘may Allah not render your trade profitable.’”
If this strict attitude is taken against those who utilise places of worship for worldly gains, what about those who turn the worship itself into a means of attaining worldly gains? We find those requested to make Haj on behalf of others bargain and ask for more money, which turn worship into a craft or profession. For this reason the Hanbali jurists maintained that it is invalid to hire a man to perform Haj on behalf of another.
Ibn Taimiyah declared that whoever makes Haj only to attain hire will have no reward in the Hereafter. However, if proxy is made for a religious purpose, such as benefiting others with the reward of Haj or aiming to increase acts of obedience through supplication and remembrance of Allah during the rituals of Haj, Haj by proxy will be valid in this case.
Those who charge for proxy in Haj should devote their intention to seek the pleasure of Allah, aiming to exercise worships related to Allah’s House, remembering Him and supplicating Him, in addition to the fulfilment of the needs of their fellow Muslims who authorised them to make Haj on their behalf. They should not pour all their attention on gaining worldly benefits, for if this becomes their sole interest, they will not be permitted to charge for proxy in Haj.
If one entertains a sound intention for proxy in Haj, all the money he gets from the authorising person will be his, unless the latter demand refunding remaining amounts after covering the costs of Haj. The deputy person should intend to perform Haj and ‘Umrah on behalf of the authorising person, unless the former stipulates to perform ‘Umrah for his benefit.
A person deputised to make Haj on behalf of another person cannot deputise a third party, unless after obtaining the consent of the person who commissioned him to make Haj on his behalf. All the reward of acts related to rituals of Haj goes to the authorising person, but the redoubling of reward through offering supererogatory prayers and Tawaf, as well as extra types of worship that exceeds the rituals goes to the authorised person.
The representative in Haj should exert the best of his efforts to accomplish the verbal and practical acts related to the rituals, since this is a kind of trust that he should fulfil duly. When pronouncing Talbiah, he should say: ‘labbaika ‘an fulan’ (O Allah I respond to Your Call on behalf of so and so.) If he forgets his name, he may intend it with his heart, saying: ‘labbaika ‘Amman anabani fi hadhihil-’Umrah, or fi hathal-Haj’ (I respond to Your Call on behalf of one who authorised me to make this ‘Umrah or this Haj.)
O servants of Allah! Fear Allah and do not pay much attention to the worldly gains, and do not turn worship into a means of attaining material gains! May Allah guide you and I to be sincere in our intentions and to perfect our deeds! May Allah guide you and I to the straightforward path, for He is Most Bounteous, Most Generous. Praise be to Allah the Lord of all worlds. May Allah bless our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his Companions!

Eid : A Mercy of Allah

Eid : A Mercy of Allah

Eid - a Mercy of Allah:
Anas (radhi allahu anhu) said: “The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) came to Madeenah and the people of Madeenah had in Jahiliyah two days of play and amusement (they are the day of Niarooz (New Years Day) and the day of Maharajaan (Final Day of the Year). So, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “I came to you and you had in Jahiliyah two days of play and amusement. Indeed, Allah has replaced them for you by that which is better than them: The day of Nahr (slaughtering) and the day of Fitr (breaking fast).” [(saheeh) Musnad Ahmad (3/103, 178, 235 and others)]

Shaikh Ahmad Abdur-Rahmaan al-Banaa said: “This is because the two days, the day of Fitr and of Nahr are from the legislation of Allah, the Most High, His choice for His creation and because they succeed the performance of two great pillars of Islam, which are Hajj and Fasting. In them, Allah forgives the pilgrims and those who fast, and spreads His Mercy over all His obedient creation. As for the days of Nairooz and Mahrajaan, then they were chosen by the wise men of that era, either because of the mildness of the climate and season or because of other transitory virtues. Thus, the difference between them is clear for those who contemplate.” [Fath ur-Rabaanee (6/119)]

Eid - a day of gathering:
Eid (pl. 'Ayad') is any day of gathering. It is derived from 'ada' (meaning returned), because people return to it periodically. Ibn ul-Arabi says: “It is called Eid because it returns every year with renewed happiness. Some scholars say it is derived from ‘adah’ (custom or practice) because people are accustomed to celebrating it.

Ibn Abidayn said: “The Eid days are thus named because Allah renews His Bounties in them; and He distributes His blessings to His worshipers. From these are Fitr (eating), after food had been prohibited and Sadaqaat al-Fitr (the charity of breaking the fast) to the needy. And on Eid al-Adha, the completion of Hajj with the final Tawaaf of visiting; the meat from sacrifices and many other acts. Also because the custom in Eid is joy, happiness, cheerfulness and gladness.” [Hashiyah Ibn Abidayn (2/165)]

Recommended Acts on Eid:
Eid is a purely religious occasion, since it is granted by Allah through the revelation and when Allah grants something, he grants it complete and perfect. Thus, He granted us Eid and instructions to celebrate it.
1 - Ghusl (bathing): It is recommended to take bath on the morning of Eid. Nafi reports: “Abdullah bin Umar (radhi allahu anhu) used to bathe on the day of Fitr before setting out to the Musallah.” [(saheeh) Reported by Malik (1/177) Shafi'ee (73)]

2 - Adornment and beautifying Oneself for Eid: Ibn Umar (radhi allahu anhu) said: “Umar (radhi allahu anhu) bought a silk outer-garment that was being sold in the market. He came to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) and said: “Take this garment, to adorn (yourself) with on Eid and for meeting delegations with. Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) replied: “Indeed, this is the garment of the one who has no share of the Hereafter.” Umar remained as long as Allah willed him to remain and then left. Then, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) sent to him the silk garment. So Umar came with it to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) and said: “O Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam)! You said indeed this is the garment of the one who has no share of the Hereafter but you sent this garment to me!” So the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Sell it and fulfill your needs with its profit.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee (886, 947, 2104, 3054, 5841) and Saheeh Muslim (2068) and others]

Haafidh Ibn Hajr (rahimahullah) said: “The evidence derived from this Hadeeth is that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) approved Umar on the basic principle of beautifying oneself for Eid and restricted him to wear garment made of silk.” [Fath al-Baree 2/234]

From beautifying oneself on Eid is wearing Kohl (surmah), perfumes and oil, wearing turban, caps etc. It is also recommended to wear best clothes on Eid.

3 - Eating some dates on the morning of Eid: Narrated Anas Ibn Malik (radhi allahu anhu): “The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) would not leave (his house) on the day of Fitr until he ate some dates.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee and others]

Imaam al-Muhallab said: “The wisdom in eating before the prayer is to avoid the assumption that one must continue to fast until the Eid prayer is over.” [Fath al-Baree (2/447)]

4 - Proceeding to the Musallah: The Sunnah is to hold the Eid prayer in the open. The outdoor place is known as the Musallah. Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree (radhi allahu anhu) said: “The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) on the day of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha would go to the Musallah and the first thing that he would begin with is the prayer.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee (957) and Saheeh Muslim (889) and an-Nisa'ee (3/187)]

The renowned scholar Ibn Hajee al-Maalikee said: “The Sunnah with regards to the Eid prayer is to perform it at the Musallah. This is because the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said: “Prayer in my Masjid is a thousand times better than a prayer anywhere else except the Masjid al-Haraam.” [Saheeh al-Bukharee (1190) and Saheeh Muslim (1394)] Despite this great excellence his Masjid, he (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) went out (to the Musallah) and left his Masjid.” [al-Maadhkal (2/283)]

He, who is unable to proceed to the Musallah, due to illness or old age can pray in the mosque and there is no blame on him, Insha'Allah. [Refer to al-Mughnee (2/230)]

5 - Going to and returning from the Musallah: Jabir Ibn Abdullah (radhi allahu anhu) said: “When it was the day of Eid, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) would alter his routes (of returning).” [Saheeh al-Bukharee (986)]

Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawzeeyah said: “The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) used to change his route on the days of Eid, such that he went by one route and returned by another. It is said (he did this) to give salaams upon the people of both routes. Or so that both groups get some of his blessings. Or so that anybody who has a need can take care of it. Or to make manifest the ruling of Islam… and this is the most correct opinion for all these reasons and for other reasons of wisdom which his actions contain.” [Zaad al-Maad 1/449]

Imaam an-Nawawi after mentioning the previous sayings writes: “Even if the reason is not known, it is still definitely preferred to make it a ruling guideline to be followed and Allah knows best.” [Rawdat ul-Taalibeen (2/77)]

6 - The goal of offering the prayer in the Musallah is to gather the majority of Muslims in one place. However, we see that many countries today have established many Musallahs, even without the need for them. The scholars have warned people against such a thing. [Nihayat al-Muhtaj by ar-Ramli (2/375)] And these numerous Musallahs have turned into podiums set up to declare loyalty to different parties and divide the word of Muslims. Indeed, there is no Might or Power except Allah!
7 - Going Early: Imaam al-Baghawee said in Sharh us-Sunnah (4/302 - 303): “It is preferred that the people leave for the Musallah after praying the dawn prayer (Fajr), so that they can take their places and make Takbeer. While the Imaam proceeds when it is time for the prayer.”

8 - Walking to the Musallah: It is recommended to walk to the Musallah, if it is at a short distance. Alee Ibn Abee Talib (radhi allahu anhu) said: “From the sunnah is to proceed to the Eid (Musalaah) by foot.” [at-Tirmidhee (530)]
9 - Takbeer: Allah says: “…you must exclaim Allah's greatness for having guided you, so that you may be grateful.” [ (2): 185]

Takbeer is a distinctive feature of Muslim Eid celebration. It starts from the time one leaves his house heading towards the Musallah. It is established that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) would emerge on the day of Eid al-Fitr and say the Takbeer until he reached the Musallah and until he had performed the prayer. So, when he had performed the prayer, he stopped saying the Takbeer.” [Silsilah Ahadeeth as-Saheehah (170)]

Shaikh al-Albanee (rahimahullah) said: “This hadeeth contains evidence concerning legality of the common practice of Muslim of saying the Takbeer aloud on route to Musallah. Even though many people are now neglecting this Sunnah so much that it is almost totally forgotten! It would be useful at this point to remind that saying the Takbeer in unison (in groups), is not permissible. This applies as well to any other form of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), whether it is supposed to be said loudly or secretly. Let this be a warning for us, and let us keep in our minds that the best guidance is of Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam).” [As Saheehah 1/121]

Wisdom in Takbeer: Muslims are instructed to proclaim the Takbeer frequently, especially in situations, which might imply feelings of arrogance in the heart. For example; when a person slaughters an animal, he may feel arrogant because he has the power to kill, but when he says: 'Allah is the Greatest', he remembers his true position, and that no matter how great and mighty he thinks himself, Allah is Greater and Mightier, and He is the One Who provided him with the animal and gave him the strength to slaughter it. Similarly, throwing stones in Mina is an act of power and aggression. But when the pilgrims say: 'Allahu Akbar', they remembers Allah's Power and Might.

In their travels, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) and his companions used to say, 'Allahu Akbar' when they ascended a hill. Rising to a high place is another act that may cause arrogance in the heart. By applying this Sunnah, one controls himself and remembers that Allah is Greater and Higher.

Likewise, celebrations are occasions of rejoice and happiness. People tend then to be arrogant. But when they remember Allah's greatness so very frequently, they retain their position of submission and servitude before Him.

Furthermore, saying the Takbeer loudly and frequently makes people remember that the Eid is a gift granted by Allah, He is greater than worries and fears, which could mar the Eid spirit; He is the One who guides them, and who is capable of protecting them, removing their worries, and accepting their acts of worship that precedes the Eid.

The Words of Takbeer: No authentic saying of Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) is found describing the exact words of the Takbeer. However, the following have been reported from the Sahabah (radhi allahu anhu):

1. Ibn Mas'ood (radhi allahu anhu): “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-Hamd.” [(Saheeh) Irwaa al-Ghaleel (650), Daraqutne, Ibn Shaibah] (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest and to Allah belongs all praises)

2. Ibn Abbas (radhi allahu anhu): “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahil-Hamd; Allahu Akbar wa-ajal, Allahu akbaru ala ma hadana.” [(saheeh) - Bayhaqee (3/315)](Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest and to Allah belongs all praises. Allah is the Greatest to that which He has guided us to)

3. Salman (radhi allahu anhu): “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar kabeera.” [(saheeh) - Bayhaqee (3/316)] (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest)

Many people have differed from the pious predecessors in this Dhikr, adding innovations and pronouncing the Takbeer in unison which have no basis. Ibn Hajr (rahimahullah) said: “Some additions to the Takbeer have been innovated in these times for which there is no basis.”

Eid Greetings
It is permissible for Muslims to greet each other on the day of Eid with specific greetings, which have been reported from the Sahabah (radhi allahu anhu). Responding to a question in this regard, Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said: “As for the greetings on the day of Eid, then it is by saying to one another when meeting after the prayer: “'TaKabbala Allahu minnaa wa minkum wa Ahaala Allaahu 'alaika' [Majmoo al-Fatawa (24/253)] “May Allah accept it from you and us and may Allah make it return to you, and other things of this nature.”

Haafidh Ibn Hajr said: “We have related in 'Mahaamiliyaat' with a chain of narration, which is hasan, from Jubair bin Nufair, who said: “The Companions of Allah's Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) when they met on the day of Eid, would say to each other: ‘Taqabbala Allahu minna wa minkum' “May Allah accept it from you and us” [Fath al-Baree (2/446)]

This is the greeting with which the Sahabah (radhi allahu anhu) used to greet each other with. Therefore, greeting one another in this manner is a part of the religion and thus one will be rewarded for it by Allah.
