Questioner: And [the question] is, we have people who say that 'Abdullaah, rather, the father of Muhammad (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) - he is [destined] for the Fire; And [there are] people who say no, rather he is [destined] for Paradise because he is the father of the Prophet. [Please] benefit us [with a response and] may Allaah reward you with good. And am I sinful for [asking] this question, and if I am sinful [in doing so], then is there any atonement [I am required to make]? [Please] benefit us [with a response and] may Allaah reward you with good, and [may] you remain [in good].
Shaykh: Certainly the father of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) died upon disbelief, and he is in the Fire, as is confirmed in the Saheeh [of Imaam Muslim][1], that a man came to the Prophet ('alayhis-salaatu was-salaam) and said: O Messenger of Allaah, where is my [deceased] father? He replied:
((Your father is in the Fire)).
So when he turned to leave, the Prophet ('alayhis-salaatu was-salaam) called him [back] and said to him:
((Indeed, my father and your father are [both] in the Fire)).
Questioner: Yes.
Shaykh: And this is the text of the hadeeth from the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), and based upon this, then the father of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is in the Fire, just like the other disbelievers. Yes.
