What consists of character and disposition and cannot be acquired.Shyness is the behavior Allah granted the servant. The Prophetsallallahu alayhe was salaam said " Shyness brings about nothing butgood." It prohibits a person from committing despicable actions anddisplaying degrading behavior.2.What is attainable through knowing Allah and knowing His greatnessas well as His closeness to His servants.His overseeing them, and Hisknowledge of what deceives the eyes while being hidden in the chests.Shyness from Allah may be caused by witnessing and reflecting over Hisblessings and the shortcomings associated with being thankful forthem.The praiseworthy shyness is the behavior that encourages theperforming of commendable actions and abandoning the wretched.Concerning the statement : " If you do not feel shy then do as youwish ." One meaning is that it does not command to do whatever youwish, but it conveys a meaning of blame and prohibition. One way ofinterpreting it is that it conveys a threat/warning. The second way tointerpret it is that it is a way of conveying information. The thingthat prohibits a person from doing bad actions is shyness.An-Nawawee said , The Scholars said that the reality of shyness is thecharacter that encourages the abandonment of despicable actions andprevents against negligence concerning the rights of the people whopossess rights over others.Aboo Al Qaasim al Junayd said Shyness is recognizing Allahs favors,meaning His blessings and the recognizing of ones own negligence inlight of them both.When shyness is lost, every type of evil is committed.There are five signs of wretchedness :1. The harshness in the hearts2. The unflinching eye3. The lack of shyness4. The seeking of worldy pleasures.5. The Intention for the PrayerTaken from the ‘Original Sifat as-Salah’ - By Shaykh Muhadith Muhammad Nasir- Deen Al-Albaani Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya At-Takbeer Then the Messenger - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – used to begin the prayer by saying: ‘Allaahu Akbar.’ __________________________________ In this is an indication that the Messenger - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – never used to say anything before the Takbeer, like pronouncing the Niyyah (intention). Like some people say: ‘I have intended to pray for Allaah Ta’ala so many Rakat facing the Qiblah……..’ to the end of what is well-known amongst many of the people! All of that is Bida’; it has no foundation in the Sunnah. This is something which the scholars are in agreement about.It was not narrated on anyone of the Companions, nor did one of the Tabieen regard it as appropriate. Nor did any of the four Mujtahid Imaams. But rather it was mentioned by some of the companions of Imaam Shafi’ee, when he said about the Hajj:‘It is not necessary for the one who enters into the state of Ihraam and makes his intention with his heart, that he mentions it with his tongue. Not like the prayer which is not correct except by an utterance.’Ar-Raafi’ee said in ‘Sharh al-Wajeez’ (3/263): ‘The majority – i.e. From the scholars of the Shafi’eeyah – said: that Imaam Shafi’ee - may Allaah have mercy on him- did not intend by his statement the pronunciation of the intention with an utterance, rather he intended pronouncing the Takbeer; since the prayer is begun by this, and in the Hajj a person can become Muhrim without pronouncing the intention.’ It is similarly mentioned in ‘al-Majmoo’ 3/276-277Indeed he has indicated this in ‘al-Muhadhib’ by saying: ‘And from amongst our companions there are those who say: Make an intention with the heart, and an utterance with the tongue. This is nothing since the Niyyah is the intent with the heart.’‘Allaama Shaykh muwafiq ad-Deen Ibn Qudamaah al-Maqdasee said in his book ‘Dhum al-Moowasweseen’ p.7:‘Know, may Allaah have mercy on you, that the Niyyah is the intent and decision to do an action and its place is the heart. It has no connection with the tongue.It has not been narrated on the authority of the Prophet - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – nor his Companions that they uttered the Niyyah in any situation.These types of worship are ones which have been innovated at the beginning of purification and prayer, are not derived from the principles of worship.So, the Niyyah is the intent of performing an action. Therefore, everyone who is decided on performing an action, then he has an intention. And everyone who aims to perform an action, then he has an intention. It is inconceivable to separate the intent from the Niyyah, because that is its true nature. So, the absence of the Niyyah is inconceivable when it is present. Therefore, the one who sits to perform Wudu, then he has indeed intended to perform Wudu. The one who stands to pray, then he has indeed intended the prayer. An intelligent person will not perform an action from his worship or any other action without an intention (Niyyah). So, the Niyyah is a matter which is inherent in actions which a person intends, and the Niyyah is not something that needs to tire a person out, nor does he need to acquire it since it is inherent.’ summarised.So, if you know that it was not from the guidance of the Salaf as-Salih to pronounce the Niyyah; then it is obligatory upon you to follow them; since they are the example: All good is in following the Salaf And all evil is in the innovating of the Khalaf Taken from the Original Sifat as-Salah vol 1 p.175

A Word on Non-Muslim Holidaysby Embody Islam As-Salamū Alaykum,Bismillāh,Before the inquisitive reader is a brief article highlight the Islamic approach towards non-muslim holidays. I ask Allāh, The Most High, to make this effort sincere and enlightening:On the authority of Anas b. Mālik [d. 92/93AH] (1):The Messenger of Allāh, prayers and peace upon him, came to al-Madīnah and its residents had two days wherein they would rejoice. So, he prayers and peace upon him, said: ‘Indeed, Allāh has replaced these two days with those that are better than them: the Day of Aḍḥā (2) and the Day of Fiṭr (3).’ [al-Nisā'ī] (4)Shaykh ‘Abdullāh Bassām [d. 1423 AH] (5), may Allāh have mercy on him, extracted the following benefits from this ḥadīth:1. The religion of Islām has nullified every pre-Islamic holiday. This is because they are celebrations that don’t have noble meanings; nor is there any reason for them to be established or mentioned.2. Although Islām has rendered pre-Islamic holidays null and void, it has not prohibited Muslims from partaking in permissible and joyful activities. Therefore, Islām replaced pre-Islamic holidays with honorable Islamic ones: ‘Īd al-Aḍḥā and ‘Īd al-Fiṭr. 3. We learn from this hadīth that it is obligatory for the Muslims to stay away from the holidays of idol worshippers and the people of the book (i.e. Jews and Christians). So, Muslims do not attend their holidays. They do not give any importance to them. They do not aid in establishing them. They do not greet them [with specific greetings]. They do not take part in their ceremonies. And they do not leave of work during these days [with the intent of celebrating].4. If Muslims were to partake in these previously mentioned things, they have aided in resurrecting pre-Islamic celebrations. [Additionally, a Muslim should realize that] the present-day disbelievers are nothing but eviler than those of the past.5. This ḥadīth establishes that ‘Īd al-Fiṭr and Īd al-Aḍḥā are the holidays that Islamic legislation supports.6. Shaykh al-Islām, [Ibn Tamiyyah] [d. 728 AH] (6), may Allāh have mercy on him, said:'The Qur'ān, Sunnah, scholarly consensus, narrations and deductive pondering all establish that imitating non-muslims is strictly prohibited.The holidays of the disbelievers, the People of the Book and other them, are all the same. Their holidays all carry the same ruling pertaining to a Muslim.So, it is not permissible for a Muslim to imitate them in anything that is specific to their holidays; not in food, not in clothing, not in bathing [for the occasion], not in displaying decorative lights, not in changing their daily routines, not in leaving of seeking provisions [on the days of their holidays], not [intentionally] making them a day of rest, and not in being joyful and playful. As’Salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh "I'm not a lucky person, rather I'm a blessed person..." Question posed to Abul-'Abbas Moosaa Richardson during a recent kitab at-Tawheed class:Is it okay to say good luck?Answer:"I would advise you not to say "good luck" and the idea of luck is not really considered to be al-fa'al but rather luck is what people believe in when they don't believe in blessings from Allaah ta aa'la. They have money, they have good things happen to them and they believe in good luck and so they seek to increase themselves in good luck by charms or by belief in different things and they think that this is the source of their blessings and this is all shirk and very despicable habits to not praise the One who has given you something, to not thank the One who has bestowed a great blessing upon you and say "I'm lucky." This is filthy and this is disgusting and I know that the questioner is not asking about that situation, but yet that is the basis of the practice of saying "good luck." Its from those people who have those belief, so let us be distinct from them and have good words and good phrases about Allaah, let us not pass up an opportunity in front of another Muslim or in front of a kaafir, to praise Allaah for what we have. Even if you are talking to a kafir and you have to mention something about your family, or about your wealth, or about your car, say: "This is from Allaah the Lord of the Creation who has given this to me, and its not from my work and my efforts but instead its a blessing from Allaah. The meanings of "ta-weel" Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al ‘Uthaymeen rahimahullaah comments on the meaning of "ta-weel" in his explanation of al ‘Aqeedah al Waasitiyyah:“Not all ta’weel is blameworthy. The Prophet sall Allaahu ‘alaiyhi wa sallam said:O Allaah, grant him understanding of the religion, and teach him the ta-weel.(Reported by al Bukhaaree in the Book of Wudhoo and by Muslim).And Allaah, the Most High, said:And none knows its ta-weel except Allaah and those firmly grounded in knowledge. Soorah aale ‘Imraan (3) aayah 7So He praised them due to their knowing the ta-weel.And not all ta-weel is blameworthy, because ta-weel has several meanings.It can have the meaning of tafseer (explanation).And it can have the meaning of the end result and final outcome.And it can have the meaning of taking a word away from its apparent meaning… and this type can be divided into that which is praiseworthy and that which is blameworthy. So if there is a proof to support it, then it is a praiseworthy type and it is in fact from the first type (of ta-weel mentioned above) and this is tafseer (explanation). Innovations During the Last Ten Days of Ramadaan

Specifying the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan with a specific prayer.

Ash Shuqayree cites from 'Kitaab Sharh al Mawaahib: "…and even worse is what some people practice in some countries by praying 'Salaat al Khums' in this [last] Jum'ah claiming that it makes up for the missed prayers during the whole year or a whole lifetime. This is not permissible for reasons that are clear." [As Sunnan wal Mubtadi'aat P.39, al Manaathir –Shaykh Saalih aal ash Shaykh P. 44]

Glorifying the last Thursday of Ramadaan.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abdul Wahhaab stated: "What takes place in Ramadaan concerning glorifying Thursdays, specifically the last Thursday of Ramadaan must be rebuked." [Ad Durrah as Siniyyah 5/261]

Anasheed bidding farewell to Ramadaan.

Shaykh Muhammad Jamaal ad Deen al Qaasimee stated concerning these Anasheed: "This distasteful custom that is practiced in most Masaajid, when there is only five or three nights remaining in Ramadaan, the Mu-adhins and other volunteers gather, when the Imaam finishes the Witr and gives Salaams, they leave off reading what was authentically reported such as Tasbeeh and take turns reading parts of a poem about the sorrow of the departure of Ramadaan. Whenever one of them finishes singing a part of it with a loud voice, his companions follow up with their part, exerting all their effort in singing and shouting it as loud as possible with a clamor that would make a person go deaf, rather a deaf person would be able to hear it. Their melody is willfully aided by the rest of those who come for the prayer." [Islaah al Masaajid P.146, Tasheeh ad Du'aa P.510]

The statement of the Khateeb in the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan: 'Laa Awhash Allaah minka yaa Shahr Ramadaan.'

Ash Shuqayree stated: "As for the statement of the Khutabaa on the Manaabir on the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan; 'Laa Awhash Allaah minka yaa Shahr Ramadaan, Laa Awhash Allaah minka yaa Shahr al Qur-aan., O month of lanterns, O month of Taraweeh, O month of victory.' There is no doubt that this is embarrassing ignorance, it is a strange thing from them and those who author books, that they speak out such utterly useless speech to people while they know that the people are in need of understanding just one Ayah and one Hadeeth from the speech of Allaah and His messenger - صلى الله عليه وسلم. The innovation of memorizing specific things in the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan.

They are papers that they call 'Hafaa-idh' in the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan, they call this Jum'ah 'the orphaned Jum'ah', included in what they write in these papers; 'Laa Alaa ila Alaa-uk…'

Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd stated: "The Du'aa in the last Jum'ah of Ramadaan while the Khateeb is upon the Minbar saying: ''Laa Alaa ila Alaa-uk…' This is innovation and misguidance, this supplication is innovated, a false talisman, they call it 'At Tahweetah'. [Tasheeh ad Du'aa P. 510, As Sunan wal Mubtada'aat P. 140]

The Gatherings on Laylatul Qadr, the selling of sweets and the mixing that takes place.

Al Imaam at Tartooshee stated: "Amongst the innovations is the gathering of people in al Andalus (spain) and selling sweets on the twenty seventh night of Ramadaan…and the mixing of men and women in their outings to witness this." [kitaab al Hawaadith wal Bida' P.150]

It was reported in an inauthentic Hadeeth: "Whoever stands in prayer on the night of the two 'Eeds anticipating the reward from Allaah, his heart would stay alive on the day that hearts die." [Declared as extremely weak by al Albaanee – as Silsilah ad Da'eefah 521]

Al Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal stated: "As for standing in prayer on the night of 'Eed, then this is not pleasing to me, I have not heard of anybody doing so except 'Abdur Rahmaan. I do not see it to be legislated because Ramadaan would have already past, and this night is not from it. I do not like to do it and nothing has reached us from our Salaf that they used to do it." Abu 'Abdullaah used to pray the obligated prayer on the 'Eed and leave, he never prayed it with him and used to dislike that it was prayed in Jamaa'ah. [Badaa'i al Fawaa-id 4/93, As Sunan wal Mubtada'aat P. 153]

Constantly observing complete silence during 'Itikaaf.

Shaykhul Islaam ibn Taymiyyah stated: "As for remaining silent unrestrictedly while fasting or practicing 'Itikaaf or otherwise, then this is an innovation with the consensus of the scholars. [Majmoo' al Fataawa 25/292]

Muwafaqud Deen ibn Qudaamah stated while mentioning 'Itikaaf: "As for remaining silent then this is not from the legislation of Islaam." [Al Kaafee 2/293, Al Majmoo' 6/376]

Concerning the one who abandons Salaat in Ramadhan

What do you say concerning the response which was mentioned in one of the Arab magazines in regards to a question that was asked about one who fasts during the month of Ramadaan while abandoning the Salaat? The response was given by one of the teachers in Jami'atul Azhar (Azhar University) in Egypt. Where he said: "Allaah says: "Whoever does an atoms weight of good shall see it, and whoever does an atoms weight of evil shall see it" [99:7-8] Meaning, whoever fasts the month of Ramadaan then he will receive the reward for his fasting, even if, at the same time, he abandons the Salaat. Therefore, upon him is the sin of abandoning his Salaat. So the fact that he has a shortcoming in the obligatory act of worship does not prevent him from having another accepted.

This response is general, because the one who abandons the Salaat, if he rejects the fact that it is mandatory, then he is a disbeliever by the Ijmaa' (consensus) of the Muslims. And neither the Salaat nor any other act of worship will benefit him, because Allaah says:

"And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust." [25:2]

And Allaah says:

"The parable of those who disbelieved in their Lord is that their works are as ashes, on which the wind blows furiously on a stormy day; they shall not be able to get aught of what they have earned. That is the straying, far away (from the right path)."

And the Ayaat in this regard are many. As for if he abandoned the Salaat lazily or neglectfully along with the fact that he acknowledges it's obligation upon him then there is a difference of opinion amongst the people of knowledge. From them are those who see that he has disbelieved Kufr Akbar (Major disbelief) that which removes one from the fold of Islaam, like the previous one. And based upon this opinion his Salaat is invalid and so is his fasting and any other act of 'Ibaadah, or any act of good. None of it is accepted from him because it wasn't built upon the correct foundation and the evidence of his belief is that which has come in the Hadeeth:

"The contract between us and them is the Salaat, and whoever abandons it has disbelieved." (From the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad, At Tirmithi and Ibn Majah from the Hadeeth of 'Abdullaah Ibn Buraydah, on the authority of his father)

In another Hadeeth:

"Between a man and Shirk or Kufr (disbelief) is the abandonment of the salaat" (Found in the Sahih of Imaam Muslim)

And the verses of the Quraan are many that point to this fact. also. From them is the statement of Allaah Ta'aala:

"But if they repent, perform As Salat, and give Zakaat, then they are your brethren in religion…" [9:11]

So this Ayah proves that the one who doesn't establish the Salaat then he is not from our brothers in Deen. Meaning he is a Kaafir (disbeliever) and the people of the Hell fire will say on the Day of Resurrection when they are asked

"What has caused you to enter the Hell Fire?"

They will reply:

"We were not of those who used to offer the Salat (prayers). Nor did we used to feed the Miskeen (needy), and we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allaah hates) with the vain talkers, and we used to deny the Day of Judgement…" (74:42-46)

Disbelief in the Day of Judgement is, without a doubt, disbelief so Allaah connected him with the one who abandons the Salaat pointing toward the fact that abandoning the Salaat is Kufr also! So the evidences pointing towards this are clear and in abundance that the one who abandons the Salaat either lazily or neglectfully intentionally then he has disbelieved, even if he acknowledges it's obligation and this is the most correct and preferred view because of the many proofs.

The second opinion of the people of knowledge is that he has not disbelieved Kufr Al Akbar, which doesn't remove him from the fold of Islaam rather it is Kufr Al Asghar (Minor Kufr) which he should be punished (by the ruler or leader of that Muslim country) until he establishes the Salaat.

Perhaps the teacher, who responded in the magazine, intended this opinion but it is not the most acceptable view and the evidences are in opposition to it and it was more appropriate for him to clarify to the people and not to deceive them in this manner by responding with this general reply and Allaah knows best.

Obligation of Muslims in Ramadaan

The Shaykh حفظه الله و بارك الله فيكbegan by thanking Allaah and praising Him for the honour of letting us live to see the month of Ramadaan once again as it is one of the pillars of Islaam; and he sent his salaam … (There was a break in the audio at this point).

Increase in Worship

It is Allaah's favor upon His creation that He gives His slaves the chance to worship Him (at special times) such that they obtain great rewards at these times. The rewards are better and greater for worshipping Him at these times. One of these times is the month of Ramadaan. In this month of Ramadaan, the Mu'min (Believer) should be different. The people should be able to tell the difference between his time of fasting and when he is not fasting. He should be upon the best manners and the highest morals. It should be very easy for him to help the people and he should be in a state where it is easy for him to forgive or he should strive hard to forgive and look past certain things from the people.

It is also a time for doing business with Allaah سبحانه و تعالى – a time when we can reap great rewards from Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and we can get great blessings by doing business with Allaah سبحانه و تعالى – dealing with Him in affairs of al-Aakhirah (the Hereafter). One should be different because this is one of the arkaan (pillars) of the Deen (Islaam), so it is upon him to show that he is striving and taking care of this pillar as much as possible. That he, is acting upon that which Allaah has ordered him to do. Also, he should stay away from everything that might bring him near to things that would harm him, and they are known, and they are many, and they are great.

In siyaam (fasting) there are great effects regarding the conduct of mankind and even regarding the health of one's body, peace within the heart, and curing and rectifying it from all the dirt and corruption within it. It is also the greatest means of restoring and rebuilding the body.

Prohibitions whilst Fasting

Fasting entails that you submit to the Orders of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and act upon them, and stay away from all those things that Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has made haraam for you whilst fasting, such as eating, drinking and even having relations (intimate relations with your spouse). Staying away from these things whilst fasting is waajib upon you, so don't eat or drink or have any relations with your spouse. And Allaah سبحانه و تعالى says: "All of the actions of the son of Aadam are for him, he would be rewarded from one to seven hundred (700) times the hasanah for each good deed that he does; except for fasting, then it is for Me and I would give as much as I please, I would reward him as much as I want."[1]

And some have said that fasting is half of patience. And Allaah سبحانه و تعالى says:

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

{...Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning.} [az-Zumar 39:10]

So this is a month that we should all heed, and take care of, and be aware of not wasting it, and take advantage of it wherein the first of it is mercy, and the middle of it is maghfirah (forgiveness) and the end of it is being released from the Hell Fire.[2]

Regulations for this month

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that some of the rules of this month are as follows:

Be upon the best of manners

A person should be upon the greatest of manners, the best of manners. He should take care of helping the people as much as possible – verily the one who is closest to Allaah or most beloved to Allaah is the one who is best to His slaves. And maybe his actions would be a guide to these people and he would be a reason for them to be released from the Hellfire on the Day of Judgment. The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم told 'Ali رضي الله عنه that: Verily, if Allaah guides by you one man it is better for you than all of the red camels[3] – and they are the highest and the best form of sustenance or money that the Arabs have.

Order with good and forbid the wrong

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say about the Nation of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم that Allaah سبحانه و تعالى says:

كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ

{You (true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad [sal-Allâhu 'alayhi wa sallam] and his Sunnah)
are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained)
and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden)…} ['Aal Imraan 3:110]

That is, you are the best of people to the people[4]. This Ma'roof (good) that you order them with, is the good that all of the pure souls and good hearts which are free from jealousy and hatred against each other would accept. They are the ones that are pure and clean and free from all of these ill things, and they forbid al-Munkar (evil). This evil is that which the clean, pure souls, prevent within themselves; so the clean souls and purified hearts of these pure people are the ones that would forbid this evil. They would forbid it and the ones that would accept it, are the ones that are like them (i.e. the evil ones). So these are some characteristics of the Mu'min:

He has no jealousy towards another person .
It is very easy for him to help the creation as much as he can so that he may be a means by which they are freed from the Hellfire.
He stays away from hurting the people.
He is very close to whatever brings one close to Allaah سبحانه و تعالى.

These are some of the characteristics that the Mu'min should be upon at all times and he is praised for them.

Be merciful to the people

So, in the month of Ramadaan, the month of goodness and blessings, we should increase in our (good) actions; it is first and foremost that one should be like that. One should be merciful with the weak and easy with the young. He should respect those people that are deserving of respect – the ones who do not oppress the creation nor cause them any harm. This is because it is from Islaam that we put the people in their (correct) places and we give due respect to the people that deserve respect, especially when those people are not oppressing the people but rather they are doing good. We should show the people that we are serious and sincere about bringing them towards happiness and joyfulness both in this dunya and in the Aakhirah (Hereafter), and there should be no doubt that our happiness and joy is for the Pleasure of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى.

Avoid sinful deeds

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that from the characteristics that the Mu'min should be upon in Ramadaan is that he stays away from all evil and sinful deeds – even outside of Ramadaan, such as lying or making fun of the people. He should take advantage of his dealings with the people at this time. If they are Muslims, then deal with them on the basis that they are Muslims; and if they are not Muslims, then on the basis that you try to show them and guide them to Islaam so that you may be the means by which they may be guided to Islaam and thereby saved from the Hellfire on Yawmul-Qiyaamah.

Order by what Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم ordered

Order by what Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has ordered, by making haraam what Allaah has made haraam in His Book and on the tongue of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, and by making halaal what Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has made halaal and what the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم made halaal, because whatever Allaah made haraam, then it is haraam and whatever Allaah made halaal, then it is halaal.

What nullifies the Fast

Regarding that which nullifies your fasting, it is eating and drinking and having relations with your spouse during the day of Ramadaan. It is by the ijmaa' (consensus) of the 'Ulamaa that they all nullify the fast except for that which was out of forgetfulness from eating and drinking. The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever eats or drinks forgetfully during the day or Ramadaan, then Allaah سبحانه و تعالى has fed him and given him to drink."[5]

Things which reduce the reward for fasting

The Shaykh حفظه الله continued by saying that some of the actions that don't actually nullify your fast but they take away from its barakah (blessings) and they decrease from your fasting are:

Al-Gheebah (backbiting) i.e. entering into the people's honour unjustly, or talking about them unjustly or belittling them so that they are disrespected, and mentioning that which they have of shortcomings, or making up certain things that they don't even have just to take them down from their position – and this is no doubt a great oppression.
Shaadatuz-Zuur – this is to testify wrongly i.e. to testify whilst knowing that you are lying.
An-Nameemah i.e. spreading the words of the people, taking the words of one person to the next person and doing that back and forth, from the perspective of trying to make enmity between them and trying to hurt their relationship – this is an-nameemah. And as the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever does not leave the testification of falsehood and saying with it, then Allaah سبحانه و تعالى is not in need of his fasting."[6]

Things to uphold in this month

Dhikr and Recitation of Qur'aan

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that from the things we need to take care of in Ramadaan is making Dhikr – remembering Allaah سبحانه و تعالى much, and reading the Qur'aan. This month is a great time to do this because Allaah سبحانه و تعالى made this month special as the month of Ramadaan is the month that the Qur'aan was revealed as Allaah سبحانه و تعالى said:

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِيَ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَانِ

{The month of Ramadaan in which was revealed the Qur'ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance
and the Criterion (between right and wrong). } [al-Baqarah 2:185]

This is a month in which the hearts become alive and those who are listening and being reminded, they strive to listen better. At this time, anyone he may want to harm he would refrain from harming him, not because of the situation but because of his fear of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى and this is from the special things in this month.

Obligatory and Optional Salaah

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that one of the things we want to talk about is the Salaah. The salaah is of two types: that which is waajib (obligatory) and that which is nawaafil (optional). From the waajib salaah are those known as the five salawaat that are obligatory upon us on normal days. It is the second pillar of Islaam and it is the greatest pillar of the pillars of action.

The pillars are of two types: pillars of action and pillars of saying. As for the pillar of saying, it is saying:

أشْهَدُ أنْ لا إلهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وأشْهَدُ أنَّ مُحَمَّداً رَسُولُ اللهُ

"Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illa Allaahu wa ashadu anna Muhammadar-Rasuulullaahi." This is the first pillar of Islaam, and it is the pillar of saying. The pillars of action are the Salaah (this is the greatest of them), as-Sawm (fasting) and al-Hajj. These are from the pillars of action and when a person is in salaah – his entire salaah is action. He stays away from certain things and he upholds certain things. So, he is staying away from everything external to the salaah at the time of the salaah (of harm) and he is doing what Allaah has ordered him with at the time of salaah.

As for the person that is fasting and does not pray, then he has not gained anything. There is nothing from his fasting that he has gained because as-salaah is the pillar or the pole that holds up al-Islaam. So the person who is fasting but not praying, he gets nothing out of any of his actions. In fact, any action done without salaah is not rewarded because he is building upon nothing. There is no building to be held up because the salaah is the pole that holds up this building.

Doing the optional acts

The Shaykh حفظه الله, he went on to say: As for some of the nawaafil (optional acts) from the actions that we do, then it is what protects the Muslim and keeps him tuned up. It is what brings the slave closer to Allaah سبحانه و تعالى as Allaah سبحانه و تعالى said in the Hadith Qudsi: "My slave does not come closer to me with any action other than those which I have made obligatory upon him (the waajibaat) and he continues to come closer to me and nearer to me by doing the nawaafil until I love him and I become the hearing he hears with and sight he sees with..." [7] until the end of the hadith.

The meaning of this is if Allaah سبحانه و تعالى loves a slave then He becomes his sight that he sees with, He protects him and He becomes the hearing he hears with. This is from Allaah سبحانه و تعالى protecting him from listening to, or hearing that which is haraam. Allaah protects him from seeing or looking at that which is haraam; and it is the same with the rest of his body and the rest of the senses he has. He does not do anything except that which coincides with that which Allaah سبحانه و تعالى loves and likes. And whatever he does from the nawaafil then he has to do it seeking the Face of Allaah alone.

The Night Prayer – Taraaweeh/Tahajjud

From the greatest of his nawaafil the prayer which is known in Ramadaan as the Taraweeh or Tahajjud (praying at night) and this is one of the biggest and clearest signs of Ramadaan, this action as the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"Whoever fasts Ramadaan upholding it and seeking the reward for it, then Allaah سبحانه و تعالى would forgive him whatever has preceded from his sins."[8]

And he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Whoever stands (in Qiyaam) in Ramadaan, upholding it and seeking the reward from Allaah سبحانه و تعالى then Allaah سبحانه و تعالى would forgive him his previous sins." [9]

And also: "Whoever stands (for praying) on the night of Qadr, then Allaah سبحانه و تعالى would forgive him his previous sins."[10]

Number of Raka'aat for the Night Prayer

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that he would like to deal with the number of raka'aat concerning at-Tahajjud and Taraweeh in Ramadaan. The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: The prayer is two two (two rakat by two rakat) and if any of you fears that the morning may come up on him, then he should end it with one. [11]

He صلى الله عليه وسلم did not specify the number of the raka'aat that the person would be praying. Due to this the 'Ulamaa have some dispute between them concerning this issue. Some of them would say only eleven (11) raka'aat because of hadith of 'Aisha رضي الله عنها that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم "… did not pray more than eleven Raka'aat in Ramadaan or in any other month. He used to pray four (4) and do not ask about their length and beauty and then he would pray four (4) and do not ask about their length and beauty and then he would pray three (3) (Witr)."[12] And also in another narration from 'Aisha, Umm Salama and Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهم that "he صلى الله عليه وسلم prayed thirteen (13) raka'aat."[13]

What has come after that from the Salaf is that the person may do what he wants from the number of raka'aat with the condition that he upholds the Salaah correctly i.e. his Qiyaam is correct and his ruku' is correct and he is serene in his Salaah and he is coming up correctly, straightening his back and he is going down for sujood correctly and so on and so forth so that his salaah is done correctly – this is the condition. So some of them prayed twenty-three (23) raka'aat all the way to thirty-nine (39) raka'aat and nobody would attack or dispute with the other person over the number of raka'aat he was praying. But it is better for the person who would like to make his salaah lengthy and long (his ruku', sujood and qiyaam are long) then it is better for him to stick to the number of eleven (11). As for the person who is not concerned about how long they are, then he is able to increase in the number of raka'aat.

Actions in the last ten nights of Ramadaan

The Shaykh حفظه الله said that when the last ten nights of Ramadaan comes, then the Muslim should increase in his actions, he should increase in his salaah. The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, in the first 20 nights of Ramadaan would pray and then go to sleep; and as soon as the 10 last nights came along, he would fold up what he would sleep on and he would tie his pants tight – meaning getting ready for his salaah, and he would bring alive the night by praying.[14] So Rasul Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, in the last 10 nights, he would do more worship and he would increase in his worship[15] in preparation for the night that the Qur'aan was revealed – the night of al-Qadr about which Allaah سبحانه و تعالى said:

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

{The Night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).} [al-Qadr 97:3]

Determining the start and end of the Fast

The Shaykh then mentioned that he would note that which concerns the beginning of fasting and it ending. As for the day, then it from the time the morning becomes apparent i.e. Fajr, to the Sunset i.e. Maghrib.

As for the beginning of the month, it is when the crescent (halaal) is seen. Since fasting has already begun (at the time the lecture was given), we would speak about breaking the fast. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it; and if it is hidden from you (behind the clouds) then complete Sha'baan thirty days."[16] And in another narration, "complete the counting" [17] And in another narration, "do not fast until you see it (the crescent) and do not break until you see it; and if it is hidden, then complete the days." [18]

And from these sayings of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, we take the beginning of the month as when the crescent is seen and not through calculation. The seeing of the crescent is established f it is seen with the eyes or through binoculars, or telescopes or satellites. It is permissible if just, truthful people come and present it whether they see it through these devices or through their eyes and notify the people of it, then it can be taken.

Necessity of sighting the crescent and leaving off calculation

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that the necessity of seeing the crescent and leaving off the calculation has been established by the ijmaa' of the Sahaabah and the Tabi'een and the Four Imams and their students and this is what the Islaamic world was upon until very recently - until the people started to become affected by the others. There is no doubt that carrying out the orders of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is befitting of every Muslim, and Allaah knows if there would be calculations or not. Verily, the Arabs of that time were extremely precise determining in the stations and times of the moon, the planets and the stars such that they even used to calculate the time a planet would appear, if even in the middle of the night.

So what is taken and relied upon concerning the beginning and ending of Ramadaan is seeing the crescent or completing the month and this is what we are upon; this is the action to be taken. So we finished Shaa'ban to be thirty (30) days (in the year 2004/1425H) because the people had not seen the moon on the twenty-ninth (29th) night, so we had to complete to the thirtieth (30th). We didn't see it until the end of the month and we waited until we saw it and then we relied upon that (the sighting). We did not rely upon the scientists saying that the moon would be seen on the twenty-ninth (29th) night and so on, but we took what we saw. This is what I have concerning the beginning and the ending of fasting.

Questions and Answers

1. Question: A brother was giving Da'wah to a man and the kaafir said to him, "How is it that I can enter into a Religion that said Muhammad is more merciful than the Lord" and he noted the hadith of 'Aisha رضي الله عنها in which the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said at the end of it "I fear it would become an obligation upon the people…"[19] and likewise the Prophet left the Qiyaamul-Layl i.e. the Taraaweeh in Ramadaan fearing that it would become an obligation and the likes of these ahaadeeth. The brother said, "I did not know how to reply to him at the time, so how should I reply"?

Answer: There is no problem here. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم feared if he and the Sahaabah continued upon their action it would become binding upon them because if they left it, then they would become like the people of Bani Israa'eel who did not care for the blessings upon them. So because of this he صلى الله عليه وسلم feared that if the people stayed upon that action, they would be obliged with it and then all the people would think of it as an obligation because they stayed upon it. And if they were not able to complete this obligation they would leave it believing it was an obligation, thus becoming short in the obligation toward Allaah and causing them sin. The Prophet didn't say he was more merciful than Allaah سبحانه و تعالى neither did 'Aisha رضي الله عنها say this. However, he صلى الله عليه وسلم merely "feared" and this fear he had did not mean it would happen.

As for this man, it is either he has doubt and someone has cast doubt over him or that he seeks to argue and bring forth doubt from something that is clear. Either way, the Muslim has a way out of this and it is easy, and it is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم fearing that something would occur, does not mean that it would occur.

2. Question: I work in a large company as a Manager and sometimes I have to meet the people and I have to shake hands with the women that have power in this company; does this break my fast?

Answer:'No'. Talking, shaking hands or touching does not break the fast but what breaks it is having relations or penetrating or foreplay causing liquid to come out, these would break the fast. But as for playing or talking where the manee, (seminal fluid) does not come out, then this does not break the person's fast.

3. Question: If the crescent is seen in a Muslim land, is it upon the Muslims in a non-Muslim land to follow suit because there isn't an Islaamic law system there?

Answer:Yes – if the crescent is seen in an Eastern land, then whoever is west (of that land) must also fast because if the moon was seen in the East, then it is to be seen in the West. If the moon in a Muslim land or a non-Muslim land is seen in the East, then it would be seen in the West, but not the opposite. For instance, if it is seen in Saudia, it is not binding upon the Japanese to fast because between us and them is more than a night and the Scholars have noted that "whoever the night brings between them together, then they have the same crescent, they have the same ru'yah (sighting) of the crescent (new moon)."

If it seen in the West and it is not seen in the East because the moon did not depart from the sun until after it had passed over that land, then it is not binding upon its people to fast. And from what the Scholars have always said, the person in Kharasaan – that is today in the Eastern part of Iran, I believe, he doesn't have to fast based on the people seeing it in al-Andalus – that is the Peninsula which is now Spain and Portugal in Europe.

4. Question: A question was asked concerning voting and if voting should be done if it would bring forth some benefit or take away some harm, or give the Muslims more power. And the Shaykh ibn 'Uthaymeen, when he was here he deemed it permissible but some people still deem it haraam. What is the just saying on this?

Answer: The Shaykh said that he answered this a few years back, either in the Haram or on the program call Noor 'alad-Darb. He said that the Muslim should do that which would bring benefit to Islaam and the Muslims, and it is known that no benefit can come about through disobedience of Allaah and His Messenger. Where there is no ruling concerning a matter, in the book or the Sunnah, and this action would bring forth some type of benefit to Islaam, then it can be done. As such, voting for a man who might bring to the Muslims something better than which they have, or keep away from them harm that is upon them, or he is better in comparison with his opponent; then there is no problem with voting for that man.

The Muslims should make ijtihaad i.e. a great effort in finding out what is best for them and most beneficial. They may get it or they may not, but they would have tried based upon hope that they would have done this good and brought benefit to Islaam and there is no haraam in that. In some lands the number of Muslims is great and if they work together they would have a good effect in choosing. For instance, if there are ten million (10,000,000) Muslims and they vote for a man they see is not taken by desires, swung left and right, but he is truthful and returns the favour, then there is no problem in choosing such a man.

5. Question: A question was asked concerning Muslims that have restaurants or something like this and they sell to the Kuffaar. (The question asked was: What is the ruling on opening restaurants in the lands of the Kuffaar in Ramadaan on the part of Muslims, is this permissible?)

Answer: 'Yes', there is no problem with a Muslim opening a restaurant or a store that sells food and such things, and selling it to the people that are not commanded with this command (of fasting in Ramadaan). He may sell it to them but he should not sell to the Muslim that are ordered with this (fasting). He should not sell to the Muslim knowing that the Muslim would eat before the time. But as for selling it to the people that are not ordered with this then there is no problem.

6. Question: A question was asked: I have an illness and this illness is continuous and I have to take medicine every four (4) hours. Should I fast and take my medicine only every four hours?

Answer: If the medicine is taken through the muscle or through al-wareed (veins) it is fine. But if the person takes it through the mouth, then there is no doubt he is breaking his fast. If he is in need of this medicine and his illness is like this i.e. continuous, then it is not permissible for him to fast. But if there is hope that he may one day be cured, and that he may be cured soon, then he may make these days up when that happens. But if the illness is not temporary, then nothing is upon him, but he can if he likes, feed a miskeen (needy) everyday. This would be good, it would be alright if he did this, but it is not binding upon him, it is not waajib.

7. Question: Is fasting considered like salaah, i.e. is the one that does not do it, a kaafir?

Answer: They Shaykh حفظه الله said that if we know that fasting is a pillar from the pillars and we leave one of the pillars on purpose, then it is considered kufr in Islaam or khurooj (exiting) from al-Islaam. If the pillars are destroyed, then the building is gone. The Scholars didn't make it tough for the people, because fasting is a secret – it may be apparent that the person is not fasting but in reality, he is. So, they did not try to find out. But if this man or this person is eating and drinking in front of the people, then it is known he is not fasting and if he is not fasting intentionally, without a legitimate excuse from Sharee'ah, then he is considered a kaafir.

8. Question: Concerning a person hearing the adhaan, can he continue eating or drinking?

Answer: The Shaykh حفظه الله said the adhaan has been made as a sign for the beginning of fasting and the end of fasting; so if a man hears the adhaan at the time of Fajr and he has some food or drink in his hand, there is no problem with him finishing this. He may finish his food and drink because the religion is easy[20] and it is not tough.

9. Question: I am a truck driver and I drive daily from city to city. So do I come under the category of al-musaafir or is it waajib upon me to fast in Ramadaan. Please note that this is my job through out the year.

Answer: Fasting is permissible for the person that is travelling, except in the situation where he fears that it might harm him. So as for this person that is always travelling, it is permissible for him to fast unless this is going to harm him. At the time of the Prophet of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم they would go out to certain battles and some of the people would be fasting and no one would say anything – it was fine if they were fasting or if they didn't fast. In the hadith it came that: We used to go on trips with the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and some of us would fast and some of us would not, and the ones who were fasting would not argue with the ones who were not fasting, and the ones who were not fasting would not argue with the ones that were fasting about their fasting.[21] And in this situation where the person is always travelling, it is better for him that he fasts in this situation unless it is going to cause him some bodily harm.

10. Question: A sister says that she is pregnant and her sister is breast feeding so do they come under the category of [being] sick or is it okay for them to feed for all missed days without making up the fast of the missing days?

Answer: The Shaykh حفظه الله said as for the one who is pregnant or the one who is breastfeeding, if they fear upon themselves some kind of harm, then they would take the ruling of the person that is sick and they don't have to fast. But if they fear for instance that whilst fasting (there may be) some harm upon the baby or the foetus, then it is upon them to make it up later as well as a kaffarah (expiation), which is to feed a miskeen for each day. There is some khilaaf (differing) in this issue and some of the people say that they should also feed the masaakeen (needy). But what he (the Shaykh) sees, is that they only make it up, and they have to make up the time that they missed for the days that they did not fast.

11. Question: Does bleeding invalidate the fast and what is the ruling for the drawing of blood for lab (tests) during the day in Ramadaan?

Answer: As for someone who loses blood unwillingly such as one who fell or was cut or something like this, then his fasting still stands, unless he has to go ahead and break his fast because he was weakened by too much blood being lost. He can go ahead and break his fast.

As for the person that does it on purpose such as al-Hijaama or drawing this type of blood, then there is a khilaaf on the issue. Some of the people say he has broken his fast but the Shaykh حفظه الله said that if it is a lot of blood, then he has broken his fast. However, if it was just enough, a little bit i.e. he just took enough for the sample to be tested in the lab and there was not much blood taken out, then his fast still stands.

12. Question: What is the ruling for the one who delays fasting missed days for an entire year without making up the fast until another Ramadaan?

Answer: This is action is not permissible. It is not permissible or halaal for anyone to do this – that is to not make up the fast from one Ramadaan to the next. He can't do this unless there is a legislated reason such as illness or travelling for the whole year without having a break for instance. That would be a permissible reason for him that he missed making up the Siyaam. But if this person did it out of laziness or neglecting the Siyaam itself, then this is haraam and he has brought some sin upon himself by leaving off the fasting because it should be done before the next Ramadaan and some of the 'Ulamaa, they say this person has to make it up and pay the kaffarah (expiation) i.e. pays or feed the masaakeen (needy). Others say he should just make it up. However, making it up is waajib in both cases and he should not be doing this.

13. Question: What is the ruling on using eye, nose and ear drops during the day in Ramadaan and is using kohl on the eyes permissible during the day?

Answer: As for the nose drops, if this person is certain that it is not going to reach into his throat and end up in his stomach, then it is permissible. But if he fears, or is not sure that the drops might fall into his throat and end up in his stomach, then it is not permissible. He should know that whatever goes through the nose can find its way down to the stomach, and at certain times it (the nose) is used for feeding a sick person or nurturing him. And sometimes, the stomach is cleaned through the nose.

As for the eye drops or kohl, then this is not something that would cause you to break your fast because it does not lead in anything entering into your stomach. Even though sometimes, from the nose, there might come out something of the color of blood or something like this; but this still does not mean that the eye drops or the Kohl has broken your fast.

14. Question: Wouldn't voting or participating in elections be considered as assisting the kuffaar in having authority over the Muslims?

Answer: If the Muslims refrain from voting, then are the elections going to be nullified or are they still going to go forth or not? If this President is going to be put forth (elected), and if it is true that whether the Muslims vote or not it's going to go through, and they see that in electing someone to office is better for them than the opposing party - if they see that this is the situation; or if they see that this person is better than the other – he's going to be easy with the Muslims or better with them than the opposition, then in this situation, it is good for them to vote.

But if they don't vote and they sit back and there is an opposing party that is clear that it is opposing the Muslims, and it would cause some harm upon the Muslims, then this is not good. In fact, it would be hurting the Muslims, or helping to hurt the Muslims because you have not voted for the party that would help the Muslims.

AsSalaamou alikum ya'll it been a while since i have wrote on my blog,

I will like to update you on me My son Ismail is doing fine alhamdoulilah he is 4 years Old he will be attending school in august, he was also diagnosed with being mildly autistic So the school he is attending is behavioral and development school. I'm proud of him he is my my baby to continue he has delays in speech and Motor skills he takes occupational therapy as well. We are doing every Program we can to help him with any issues some of his delays will improve in time with continues work insha allah. On June 12th 2011 I had a baby her name is Mari'yam she a lil precious lil thing she was born @ 7 pounds and 11 oz. I'll put a pic below so thats about it really. I do be on facebook alot But like every Ramadhan i deactivate it.

Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimoon
(The Muslim Brotherhood)

Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun (The Muslim Brotherhood) was founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hasan al-Banna (1906-1949), a Sufi revivalist thinker and activist. A group founded by Hassan al-Banna and which serves as an umbrella organisation to accommodate all and sundry, regardless of deviation in creed and methodology.

Following Britain's military occupation of Egypt, al-Banna's sensitivity towards Western imperialism was heightened due to his country's economic exploitation and cultural domination. Consequently, al-Banna saw fit to create an Islamic group which would oppose the secularist tendencies and corruption of state and society which existed by asserting a return to Islamic values and ways of life. He introduced this organization into Egyptian society by relying on pre-existing social networks. The group consistently attracted new recruits and established numerous businesses, clinics and schools. Appealing to a variety of constituencies, al-Banna recruited followers from a vast cross-section of Egyptian society by addressing issues such as colonialism, public health, educational policy, natural resources' management, Marxism, social inequalities, Arab nationalism, the weakness of the Islamic world and the growing conflict in Palestine.

Al-Banna did not begin or end his call with the basic tenet of Islam, tawhid (singling out Allah in all forms of worship), as was the way of the Prophets. Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun have consistently overlooked the principal aspect of calling their followers to tawhid and forbidding them from polytheism, because these are matters which require time and effort to change, matters which people do not find easy to accept. Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun were more concerned with amassing groups of people together rather than calling the people to the way of the Prophet (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace).

Consequently, they accommodate every kind of religious innovator in their ranks, giving them a platform to openly call to their various contradicting beliefs. Amongst al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun can be found followers of Sufism, the Jahmiyyah (those who deny that Allah has any Attributes), the Shee'ah, the Mu'tazilah (a philosophical school of thought that also denies Allah's Attributes), the Khawarij (those who expel people from the fold of Islam due to their sins), modernists, and many others. This methodology of political expediency results in Islam's clarity being replaced with something that is bewildering and blurred. Allah has said,

"You consider them to be united, but their hearts are divided. That is because they are a people who understand not." Quran 59:14

As the group expanded during the 1930s, it quickly transformed into an entity which would become directly active in the Egyptian political scene. Directly confronting the rulers, the organization became highly clandestine. This religious innovation of secrecy can now be found in the other more dangerous sects such as al-Qaeda and Jamaa'atul-Jihaad. After a series of back and forth assassinations between group members and the government, Prime Minister Nuqrashi Pasha disbanded al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun in December 1948. Although it has pursued a considerably more peaceful approach to its call since the 1970s, they set the stage for the other Qutbist groups that would take up where they had left off.

It is from the fundamental principles of al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun that they consider the lands, possessions and blood of the Muslim nations to be theirs, as if these nations which they preside in were places of experimentation. Accordingly, they sacrifice generations and generations of people for the attainment of rule. They believe that they can attempt to search for different ways to establish the religion of Islam, as if the texts of Islam do not actually contain an outline and divinely set method in which to do this. Directly contravening the methodology of the Prophets in calling to Allah, they have yet to experience anything resembling success.

A Soofee and a Mufawwidh (rejecter of the Attributes of Allaah). As he himself narrates, he would visit the shrines and indulge in many innovatory practices.

Sayyid Qutb
More of a literary writer than scholar, Sayyid Qutb made very many serious mistakes in creed and introduced ideas that have led to the birth of destructive political movements.

Abu A`la Maududi
A man who reviled many of the Prophets of Allaah and the Companions of Allaah's Messenger as well as promoting un-Islamic revolutionary modes of thought.

Fataawa of the Ulamaah Concerning Demonstrations and Protests

All praises are for Allah and may His peace and salutations be on His final prophet and messenger Muhammad, his family and companions and those who follow them in goodness until the last day.

Due to what many are witnessing today in the media and in the broadcasts regarding the issues unfolding in Egypt and other than that in the Islamic world, we wanted to bring some of the statements of the scholars regarding the affairs of protests and demonstrations so that the Muslim can be upon clarity in regards to these matters, and Allah is the owner of success.

1. Fatwa of al-Allaamah al Imaam Abdul Azeez ibn Baaz â€" May Allah have mercy on him:

Q: Is demonstrations and the staging of sit-ins from Jihaad?

A: No, this is an error, this is an error. This is fitnah and this is evil and is not okay.

Q: Are protests and demonstrations by men and women against the rulers and authorities considered to be from the means of Daâ€™wah?

A: I do not see that demonstrations by men and women are from the solutions rather I see that they are from the reasons of fitnah and the reasons of evil and from the reasons of oppressing some people and transgressing upon people without right. However, the legislated means (of rectifying) is through writing, giving advice, calling to good through the legislated means, which were treaded by the companions of the prophet (salla allahu alayhi wa sallam) and those who follow them in goodness and which are treaded by the people of knowledge. By writing and talking with the Muftee , the Amir or the Sultaan, and by calling him, advising him, and writing to him. Without making these things known upon the pulpit and other than that by (saying) he is this or that and he did this or that, and Allahâ€™s help is sought.

2. Fatwa of al Allaamah Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al Uthaymeen:

â€œ That which is upon us is to advise as far as we are able. As for showing opposition and protests in the open, then this is in opposition to what the Salaf were upon. And you have come to know that these things do not have any relation to the Islamic legislation nor does it have any relation to rectifying affairs, they only cause harm. The Khaleefah Al Maâ€™moon killed the scholars who did not say the Qurâ€™aan was created. He killed many of the scholars and forced the people to say this false statement. However we did not hear that Imam Ahmad or other than him from the Imaams, that any one of them, ever held a demonstration or protest in a Masjid! And we did not hear that they used to spread his faults (the ruler) so that they can incite the people to have hatred and rancor and dislike for him.

And we do not support these demonstrations and protests and the likes. We do not aid them at all! And it is possible to rectify without them, however there is a must that there is some people from the inside or outside who secretly have their fingers in these matters and are trying to incite these affairs.

3. Fatwa of al Allaamah ash Shaykh Saalih al Fawzaan:

Q: Are protests and demonstrations from the means of Daâ€™wah in order to solve problems and the calamities of the Islamic Ummah?

A: Our religion is not a religion of chaos; our religion is a religion of discipline, order and tranquility. And demonstrations are not from the actions of the Muslims and the Muslims did not used to know anything about this. The religion of Islam is a religion which is calm and a religion of mercy, there is no chaos in it or disarray or no inciting fitnah. This is the religion of Islam. Furthermore, rights can be obtained without this way, by therefore requesting them in lines with the Islamic legislation and by Islamic means. These demonstrations incite fitnah, the spilling of blood and the destruction of wealth, so these affairs are not permissible.

4. Fatwa of al Allaamah ash Shaykh Ubayd ibn Abdillah al Jaabiree

Q: Are demonstrations and assassinations in the Islamic countries or the disbelieving countries a means for rectification of the Islamic Ummah?

A: The person of the Sunnah strives to correct a situation in accordance to the legislative text and from that is advising the ruler, calling to coming together and being one under his authority, and striving to return those people whose hearts have fled from him back to loving him, and they command the good and forbid the evil, all in accordance to what the Islamic legislation necessitates. As for the people of innovation and desires, their only desire is to overturn the (good) of a situation and to demolish it. And this is the actions of the Khawaarij and the result is the spilling of blood, violation of the honor, stealing and robbery, making the paths frightening, the causing of chaos, the departure of safety and division.

So the Sunnah is Allahâ€™s favor on His creation and the affair of the servants or the lands will never be rectified except with it. As Wahb ibn Kaysaan â€" May Allah have mercy on him- he never used to stand from his sitting until he said to his companions, from them being Imaam Maalik ( May Allah have mercy on him) and he was the one who narrated this from him: â€œ Know that the latter part of this affair will not be rectified except with that which rectified its beginning partâ€‌. Al Asbagh said to Imam Maalik: What does he intend by that? Maalik said: â€œHe means the fundamentals of the religion or Taqwaâ€‌.

So this is one thing.

The second thing is regarding daâ€™wah. The Daâ€™wah of Ahlul Ssunnah wal Jamaâ€™ah and they are the salafees and they are the saved sect and the victorious group and the people of narration, their daâ€™wah is based upon softness, gentleness, conducting affairs in a good manner, and using wisdom in giving daâ€™wah in a way that is better. So demonstrations and assassinations is not of this sort, rather it is violence. And assassinations are from the way of the Khawaarij and the Sabaiyyah who came before them and others from the people of desires, rather it is from the actions of the Kuffaar.

9 Manhaj Points from Aisha’s (May Allah be pleased with her) Test : “ Are you a Haraura?”

مُعَاذَةُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً قَالَتْ لِعَائِشَةَ أَتَجْزِى إِحْدَانَا صَلاَتَهَا إِذَا طَهُرَتْ فَقَالَتْ أَحَرُورِيَّةٌ أَنْتِ كُنَّا نَحِيضُ مَعَ النَّبِىِّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - فَلاَ يَأْمُرُنَا بِهِ . أَوْ قَالَتْ فَلاَ نَفْعَلُهُ .

Mu’adha narrated: A woman asked ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), should I offer the prayers which I didn’t offer because of menses.” ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, “ Are you from Haraura (a town in Iraq). We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and used to get our periods, but he never orderd us to pray the missed prayers or ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, “ We did not offer them. “

Manhaj benefits for this hadeeth:

1. Haraura was a village near Kufa in Iraq where the Kharijites for the first time appeared. There is a sect of the Khawarij who regard prayer compulsory for menstruating women, therefore when their periods conclude they must make up the missed prayers.

2. Shaikh Muhammad bin Ramzaan Al-Haajiree (may Allah preserve him) said,” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) educated and taught his wife ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about and warned her from desires and fitnah. This is found in another hadeeth collected by Bukhari. ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the verse: ‘ It is He Who sent down to you the Book. In it are verses that are entirely clear, they are the foundation of the Book; and others not entirely clear. So ,as for those in whose hearts there is a deviation they follow that which is not entirely clear thereof seeking for its hidden meanings; but no one knows it hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: We believe in it; the whole of it are from our Lord.” And none receive admonition except men of understanding.[ Bukhari 4547]. This is the approach of people with knowledge. They warn the people from desires and innovation.

3. Warning about innovation and its people is creed and religion, even in the questions related to purification and abnormal discharge.

4. This woman had zeal to understand the affairs of her religion. This is the importance of knowledge- i.e Knowledge before action. For this reason, it’s obligatory for us to seek knowledge. Knowledge built on the Quran, Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf. Therefore we worship Allah with knowledge, and if there is anything that we are uncertain about we return to the scholars. By returning to the scholars we benefit from their understanding and guidance.

5. Based on ‘Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) words,” Are you a Haruara” we learn that sometimes a person can be judged based on affiliation. This was one of the issues which affected the Khawarij. And consequently Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) doubted this woman, so she asked her in order to know her position towards this misguided sect- Al-Haruara.

6. This hadeeth refutes those people who deny classifying people into the groups and catergories; Sunni and Bid’ee, Salafy and Khalafee ,etc. This classifying of people is built on knowledge, proof, evidences, fairness and Taqwa.

7. This hadeeth shows that it’s a must for a person who is accused of something or if an innovation or misguidance is connected to him to free himself from it. He must defend himself and explain his true stance clearly without any detours and evasions. This resembles what the woman did when she said, “ I am not a Haruara.

8. Even though this woman was ignorant she was tested in an issue of purification which is connected to her prayer. These acts of worship were very crucial in her life. And although she was ignorant about them, she still knew who the Haruara sect was. She knew that sect was misguided, therefore she hurried and freed herself from being among them. She did that because the origin of warning from desires and innovation was a universal methodology and way during her lifetime. The people of knowledge used to warn the people from these desires. The people of knowledge during that time used to talk about these false groups high and low. They did this so the people were on alert about misguidance and its carriers.

9. This hadeeth refutes the people who say the Salafee’s( Ahulus Sunnah) are wrong for warning people about Ahul Bid’a wal Ahwa. They consider Ahulus Sunnah as being wrong for this act with the claim the people need to understand Tahara and prayer… All praises to Allah , the people of the Sunnah, the scholars and students of knowledge explain the important and needed issues to the people for their religion. Furthermore at the same time they warn the people about desires; as desires has a dangerous affect on the people.

The government has taken a “wise” decision to call for the return to the Kingdom of the 47 most wanted suspects, said Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Aal Al-Sheikh, Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, President of the Board of Senior Ulama and Religious Research and Ifta Administrations.

The list of 47 Saudis was announced by the Ministry of Interior on Sunday.

“The Kingdom’s stance toward them is wise and aims to show mercy and pity toward them and [to help them] remove whatever is clouding their vision and thinking.”

The Grand Mufti said many of those who have taken up deviant ideas are young people who have not yet matured. This has made it easy for certain groups and individuals to lure them into this destructive way of thinking.

Aal Al-Sheikh called on parents to watch their children and see who their friends are, because sometimes their companions could be a danger to them.

He stressed that Islam has not created such persons. It is a religion of peace. He emphasized that Allah sent His Prophet (peace be upon him) as a mercy for mankind, jinn and all that exists.

Mansour Al-Turki, Spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, has described the 47 wanted Saudis as “extremely dangerous” and having the “capability to carry out any act of terrorism”.?

“They have had training in the use of arms, and some of them have had leadership roles in Al-Qaeda,” Al-Turki said on Sunday.

Having Taqwa and Faith is Comes from Speech and Actions So if we are about these Evils how do we have Taqwa? how do we truly have Eeman?

The believers are only those who, when Allâh is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Qur'ân) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone); (Al-Anfal 8:2)

If you are annoyed and frustrated with all the filthy pictures that come into your house when you only want to read your email, then do this (this is for MS Internet Explorer):

1) In the top of your browser, go to TOOLS
2) Click INTERNET OPTIONS
3) Click on the ADVANCED tab at the top
4) Scroll down to the option SHOW PICTURES, remove the check from the box
5) Click APPLY

Now you will see blank boxes for all jpegs and gifs (picture files), if you do need to see them, as they may be buttons or pictures of things that are permissible, just click on the blank square with your right mouse button and choose SHOW PICTURE. Try it here on salafitalk, you will only be prevented from seeing the banner at the top of the screen, everything else is still there.

This is especially good for email, especially yahoo, since it seems to be the filthiest by far.

May ALlaah help us to rid our houses of the munkar that creeps in without our intention!

After knowing this, you should realize that NOW YOU HAVE THE CHOICE to either allow pictures or not. So if you continue to bring fitnah into your own home, it is by your choice, you can not say that there is no way around it!

Remember that the angels do not enter a house with a picture in it. [See Saheeh Al-Jaami' #7260-7262]

Soorah Al Baqarah 185

The month of Ramadân in which was revealed the Qur'ân, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadân i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Saum (fasts) must be made up] from other days. Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allâh [i.e. to say Takbîr (Allâhu-Akbar; Allâh is the Most Great) on seeing the crescent of the months of Ramadân and Shawwâl] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.

I have My mind on Ramadhan and Ramadhan on my mind!! Alhamdoulilah I get my mind set 6 months ahead to be in My Ramadhan mode. The time Where your not focusing on yr Desires but desiring to Please Allaah and Him alone. This is the day 2 and day one was Good I kept falling sleep while Reading lol but when i broke my fats i was satisfied Did my duty and pray we all continue doing are duty to or Lord.

For those connected to me on Facebook I deactivated because it does take up your time and i have other things to do. I'm on messenger And i both blogs most times i need to increase My Memorization of Quran , and Learn more read more Just be a better Muslim not just for Ramadhan but the rest of year. Question: What is the ruling on reciting the Qur'aan into water?

Answer: It is not appropriate, even though some of the scholars have said it (that it is ok). There is no proof for it. The Messenger ( sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) did not do this and neither did the Companions. May Allaah bless you all. And those (scholars) who permit writing (i.e. writing verses of the Qur'aan and using them for cure and so forth), and some things, and bathing and washing (with water that have verses of Qur'an blown or recited in it) and the likes of these things, they do not have any proofs for such things. And they (the same scholars who permitted this) are the ones who taught us that we should not accept any matter except with the daleel (proof). So every person may have his statement accepted or rejected except the Messenger of Allaah ('alayhis-salaatu was-salaam).

Shaykh Ahmad an-Najmee (rahimahullaah) said: We will look at the observations [regarding the Tableegh] with brevity because the speech regarding them has preceded. As for what has not been mentioned from the observations, meaning that which is new, then I will mention it with clarification:

The first observation: The founder of Jamaa'at ut-Tableegh was nurtured upon Soofiyyah and made two oaths (bay'ah) to it[1] and lived upon this until he died. So due to this, he is a Soofee deeply-rooted in Soofiyyah.

The second observation: He used to be stationed at the graves waiting for spiritual revelations and blessings from their occupants.

The third observation: He used to be stationed as the Jishtee supervisor at the grave of 'Abdul-Quddoos al-Kankoohee, who believed in the ideology of the wahdat ul-wujood.[2]

The fourth observation: The Jishtee supervision is to sit at the grave for half an hour of every week while covering the head and making dhikr with this phrase: "Allaah is in my presence, Allaah is looking over me." And this action, if is done for Allaah, then it is an innovation, and if it is done out of submissiveness towards the occupant of the grave, then is it major shirk with Allaah. And the latter is more apparent, because if this submissiveness was for Allaah, then he would have done it at the masjid and would not have sat at the grave. So when he sat at the grave with this submissiveness, then this became a proof that he intended by this submissiveness the occupant of the grave.

The fifth observation: The founder of this jamaa'ah and his followers are Soofiyyah in their sulook (way, characteristics) and act upon four orders: the Jishtiyyah, the Naqshabandiyyah, the Sahrawardiyyah, and the Qaadiriyyah.

The sixth observation: That the sitting of the founder of this jamaa'ah by a grave of one who believes in wahdat ul-wujood proves that he believes in this [as well]. And if he did not believe in this, he would not have sat at the grave of one who believes in it in this way, and likewise [show] the submissiveness [towards him]. May Allaah keep us pure from what they have been tested with (i.e. bid'a and shirk).

The seventh observation: That the founder of this jamaa'ah is a Soofee, Qubooree (grave-worshipper) , Khuraafee (one who believes in heretical superstitions) .

The eighth observation: That their masjid from which their da'wah sprang forth has four graves inside of it. And the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: "From the most evil of the creation are those who take the graves as masaajid. So do not take the graves as masaajid, for indeed, I forbid you from that." And this hadeeth is in the Saheehayn [of al-Bukhaaree and Muslim].

[1] It has been said that he made oaths to the four major Soofee orders twice. The Shaykh is referring to these two cumulative oaths.
[2] Wahdat ul-wujood is the ideology that states that everything both seen and unseen is Allaah, i.e. the creation and the Creator are actually one and the same. And this is the greatest of kufr; there is no ideology in existence more evil than this, and there is no disbeliever more disbelieving than he who ascribes to this ideology. Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan explained in his sharh of Nooniyyah how this ideology verifies and combines all other types of kufr and idolatry into one single madh-hab. He mentioned how even Iblees himself distinguished between the Creator and His creations, as is clear from the Qur'aan, whereas the zanadiqah (heretics) who affirm this filthy madh-hab do not.

The ninth observation: That the founder of this jamaa'ah believed in al-kashf[1] as is apparent from his statement regarding the tafseer of the verse:

You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind; you enjoin Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), and you believe in Allâh. And had the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) believed, it would have been better for them; among them are some who have faith, but most of them are Al-Fâsiqûn (disobedient to Allâh - and rebellious against Allâh's Command). [Aali Imran (3):110]

Indeed, he explained it using the Soofee kashf, and it is not permissible to explain the Qur'aan with the Soofee kashf.[2]

The tenth observation: That the Tableegh worship with innovated dhikr (remembrance) upon the Soofee way, and this to separate the statement of tawheed La Ilaaha ila-Allaah.[ 3]

The eleventh observation: That whosoever cuts off the negation (Laa Ilaaha) from the affirmation (ila-Allaah) intentionally by saying "Laa Ilaaha" [by itself], then kufr has become necessary upon him due to this. And whoever says "ila-Allaah" 500 times [by itself] then he has disbelieved 500 times as has been established by ash-Shaykh Hammood at-Tuwayjiree as quoted from the Scholars.

The twelfth observation: That the dhikr in this form, which is what the Soofiyyoon are upon, is an innovation and misguidance, and it is not permissible to worship with it. So whoever says "La Ilaaha" 500 times then says "ila-Allaah" 400 times, then indeed, he is a misguided innovator - rather, he is a kaafir because he distinguished the negation from the affirmation. And whosever does this intentionally has disbelieved even if he is ignorant – he is not to be excused for his ignorance.

[1] Kashf literally means unveiling, uncovering, etc. Used in this context, it is the Soofee concept insinuating that one can receive divine inspiration that "uncovers the true and hidden meanings" of Qur'aan or Sunnah. Imbedded into this heretical and evil allegation is an implied declaration of prophethood, for a person does not receive divine revelation (wahee) except that he is a prophet. And for one to claim prophethood is major kufr which ejects from the Religion.
[2] Muhammad Illiyaas az-zindeeq al-affaak al-atheem, having neither fear of Allaah nor knowledge of the principles of tafseer and Arabic language, explained the word 'ukhrijat' in this aayah to mean the innovated khurooj which the Tableegh perform to this day. So the defining characteristic of their sect is based upon the satanic whisperings of their founder and not upon any clear text. His son, Yoosuf al-Kandahlawee az-zindeeq, later compiled books full of fabricated and extremely weak ahaadeeth and aathaar in a desperate attempt to prove the validity of his father's innovated khurooj. May Allaah sever them.
[3] That is, they say 'Laa Ilaaha', wait an extensive period, then say 'ila-Allaah.' Even worse, they sometimes do not say Laa Ilaaha at all. These innovated adhkaar, as stated by Shaykh Hammood Bin 'Abdullaah at-Tuwayjiree, constitute major kufr and apostasy from Islaam due to what they contain from rejecting the Uloohiyyah of Allaah 'Azz wa Jal. So it becomes clear that these du'aat of fitnah and dalaal actually desire the destruction of tawheed - the very foundation of the da'wah of Prophets and Messengers.

The fourteenth observation: They make it permissible to carry amulets in which there are talismans and the names of unknown people – perhaps they are the names of shayaateen (devils) – and this is not permissible.

The fifteenth observation: They believe that the life of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and the lives of the Awliyaa' (saints/pious persons) are worldly lives and not the lives of barzakh.[1]

The sixteenth observation: They are ignorant of Tawheed ul-Uloohiyyah and do not give it any value or any importance in their considerations. This is due to that whose clarification has preceded in the previous observations [of this treatise].

The seventeenth observation: And in Tawheed ul-Asmaa' was-Sifaat, they are Ashaa'irah, Maatureediyyah, even if they do read the hadeeth for blessings.[2]

The eighteenth observation: That their phrases are centered around Tawheed ur-Ruboobiyyah, and [affirming] this tawheed does enter one into Islaam, just as it did not enter the Arab Mushrikeen into it.[3]

The nineteenth observation: That they hate the callers to tawheed, whom they call "Wahhaabiyyah"[4], such Ibn Taymiyyah, Ibn Qayyim, and Ibn 'Abdil-Wahhaab. And this indicates their deviance and wickedness.

The twentieth observation: That they do not proclaim the obligation of disbelieving in at-Taaghoot[ 5] and they do not like it that one should speak about disbelieving in at-Taaghoot. And they hate with a severe hatred that one should speak about this, rather, they will expel him from amongst them.

The twenty-first observation: That they do not forbid the evil and they do not permit a person to forbid any evil. Rather, they consider the stipulations regarding some evils to conflict with wisdom, as they allege. And indeed, Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'aala censured the Children of Israa'eel and cursed them due to their lack of forbidding the evil. So he said:

Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dawûd (David) and 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). That was because they disobeyed (Allâh and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing beyond bounds. [Al-Ma'idah (5):78]

Do you see them as being more knowledgeable or Allaah?

[1] It is the life of the grave which occurs between one's worldly death and the Day of Resurrection. When a person dies in this life, he passes on to the life of barzakh. The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and those who have died from the Awliyaa' are currently living this life of barzakh and not the worldly life.
[2] In their endless quest to devalue knowledge and its importance, the Tableegh adamantly state that they do not read ayaat or ahaadeeth to gain knowledge or understanding, rather, they do so for "barakah" (blessings only). That is why they only read the last ten suwar from the Qur'aan as has preceded in the fatwa of the Lajnah – they are not interested in learning the meanings of the Qur'aan nor acting upon it, but rather, they seek blessings by reading only these specific suwar and nothing else. And as the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) said: "Whomsoever Allaah desires good for, He gives him understanding of the Religion." Thus, their having no understanding nor care for understanding indicates that Allaah does not desire good for them. So they achieved neither understanding nor barakah, but rather, humiliation and disgrace for their playing with Allaah's Deen.
[3] Refer to the first principle of al-Qawaa'id al-Arba' by al-Mujaddid al-Muslih Muhammad Bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab and it various explanations for further insight on this important issue.
[4] This is a derogatory ascription to Muhammad Bin 'Abdil-Wahhaab (d. 1206). In order to justify such an ascription, one must show that the Shaykh brought something new from himself. The Shaykh did not do this, rather, he revived the Religion of Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and removed the doubts of the Mushrikeen by way of textual proofs from the Book of Allaah, the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), and the statements of the Salaf [the first three generations] , as is evident in his works – most notably Kitaab ut-Tawheed. So the callers of shirk and misguidance tried desperately to defame this Imaam and failed miserably, with the summit of their efforts being the pathetic book "ad-Durar as-Sunniyyah fir-Radd 'Ala al-Wahhaabiyyah" – a book filled with such horrendous lies and fabrications that, rather than harming the Shaykh, it only exposed the humiliating status of its author and his likes. Shaykh Saalih Aal ash-Shaykh has delivered more than one excellent lecture clarifying Shaykh ul-Islaam and his da'wah and refuting his critics, so refer to them. It is also sufficient to know that many 'Ulamaa' outside of Najd from his time and after his time praised him, like as-San'aanee, a contemporary of his, Jamaal ud-Deen al-Qaasimee, and many others. As for the head callers of shirk and bida', like the Muhammad Illiyaas, then the 'Ulamaa' have not only not praised them, but have extensively exposed and refuted them, as this thread proves.
[5] A Taaghoot is anything worshipped alongside/instead of Allaah 'Azz wa Jal and is pleased with it. So if if the object of worship was a pious Muwahhid, such as 'Eesa Bin Maryam (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), al-'Uzayr (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), al-Husayn, 'Abdul-Qaadir al-Jeelaanee, etc. In that case, the Taaghoot becomes Satan, who is responsible for deceiving the people and calling them to this shirk.

The twenty-second observation: The statement of the founder of this jamaa'ah: "So the intention of Laa Ilaaha ila-Allaah is eliminating the false certainty regarding various things from the heart and inserting the correct certainty regarding the Self (dhaat) of Allaah." The understanding of this is the belief in wahdat ul-wujood, and it is that the false certainty according to them is that which every Muslim believes – that everything we see, hear, touch, and notice is created except for the Speech of Allaah (the Qur'aan), for it is an attribute from the attributes which is uncreated, and that Allaah is the Creator of this entire existence, the Owner of it, and the Ruler of it, and He with His Self has ascended His throne, distinct from His creations, and that His Knowledge is in every place. So this 'aqeedah is false according to the people of wahdat ul-wujood, and its beliefs are false beliefs and are corrupt according to them. And the correct certainty regarding the Self of Allaah [according to them] is that He has not ascended the throne, and that the Lord is everything that we see from the creations, as I have previously clarified and as their speech, declarations, and [the statements] which have come from them have proven.

And on top of this, the meaning of Laa Ilaaha ila-Allaah [according to them] is that "There is nothing in existence except Allaah." And this is negating the existence of every existing thing except for Allaah the Exalted, and Allaah is Exalted above their statement with a great highness.

The twenty-third observation: Their beliefs regarding dreams, miracles, stories, and superstitions, and that so-and-so went on khurooj [with the Tableegh] from his family, closed the door on them, and stayed with them (the Tableegh) for 4 months. Then he returned to them and found them in a better condition [than they were in before he went on khurooj], so he asked them and they told him that an old woman entered upon them and served them. And I have heard similar to this from some of them with my own ears, and they allege that this is a miracle which proves that their action is loved by Allaah 'Azz wa Jal.[1]

The twenty-fourth observation: That the founder of this jamaa'ah appointed himself a legislator [of religion], so he legislated for his followers these six pillars or six attributes. So he legislated for them khurooj 3 days, or 10 days, or 4 days, or 4 months, etc. And he prepared a legislation for his followers, and if his followers agree upon that which he drew out for them and do not neglect it, then they have made him a legislator for them, since they have traversed upon the line which he drew out for them, [which consists] of that which has preceded (i.e. the khurooj) and other than it, such as not proclaiming the disbelief in at-Taaghoot, not forbidding the evil, and other than this.

The twenty-fifth observation: What ash-Shaykh Hammood at-Tuwayjiree has mentioned, quoting from Professor Sayf ur-Rahmaan Bin Ahmad in his book, "Nadhrah 'Ibaarah I'tibaariyyah 'an al-Jamaa'at it-Tableeghiyyah," that they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in many affairs. So he said:

And indeed, Sayf ur-Rahmaan mentioned many types of similarities between the Tableegh and the Shee'ah in his book. And whosoever resembles a people is amongst them. And this is a summary of what he mentioned, so he said: "And from that which is noticed [about the Tableegh] is that they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in covering-up poison with grease, and they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in covering-up that which is in their books.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in covering-up many of their far-removed beliefs (i.e. far-removed from the sunnah) in terms of ghuloo, dalaal, and the extremism which is far-removed [from the sunnah].

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in terms of [using] deception in the name of wisdom and carefulness, such that they make something apparent and hide something else, divert the speech from its proper context, and say one thing and do something else.[2]
And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in their false interpretations which are far-removed from the way of the Salaf us-Saalih.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in their being far-removed from the texts and from the knowledge of the texts.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in limiting their knowledge and the knowledge of their sect to their books which are well-known with them and nothing besides them from the books and nothing besides them from the Scholars of the Muslimeen.[3]

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in preventing their followers from research and seeking the truth from other than themselves.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in making the majority of the religion limited to the virtues and faults and placing great emphasis on the major sins.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in [improperly] appraising the fallacies and exaggerations.

And they have resemblance to the Shee'ah in [improperly] appraising nifaaq (hypocrisy), manifesting tawheed, and obscuring shirk – rather – the call to tawheed and spreading of shirk." [End of Shaykh Hammood's speech as well…]

Then he mentioned in the same page the manifestations of resemblance between them and the Qaadiyaaniyyeen as well, quoted from the book of Sayf ur-Rahmaan Ahmad, "Nadhrah 'Ibaarah I'tibaariyyah 'an al-Jamaa'at it-Tableeghiyyah." So whosoever desires further elaboration, then let him return to these two books or one of them, and Allaah is the Giver of Success to whomever he desires from His servants and He is the One Who Guides to the straight path.

[1] And this is just a small sample of what the Tableegh resort to in order to justify their innovations. There any many, many more similarly-absurd tales widespread amongst the Tableegh which are more ridiculous and outrageous than that mentioned above. It is also interesting to note how you may hear the exact same story from two different members of the Tableegh in two different places in the world, only that the settings and characters have conveniently changed to suit the specific audience!

In the Arab world, however, they also use "Riyaadh us-Saaliheen" in order to gain acceptance with what is generally a more astute audience.

Latest news reports are that five terrorist cell groups have been operating in many of our masajid. They have been identified as: Bin Gossipin', Bin Arguin', Bin Fightin', Bin
Complainin', and Bin Missin'.

Their leader, Iblis Bin Shaitan, trained these groups to destroy the muslim community. The plan is to enter the masjid disguised as muslims and to work from within to discourage, disrupt, and destroy.

As Long as one is Living Sustenance is Guaranteed

Concern yourself with that which you were ordered to take care of, and do not be concerned with something that was not guaranteed for you.

Sustenance and the matter of death are two matters whereof there is no doubt.

As long as one is living sustenance is guaranteed. And if Allah, according to His wisdom, closed the way to some means, He will, according to His mercy, open another means for you, which will be more useful. Let us consider the state of the embryo. It receives its nourishment, which is blood from one means which is the naval, and when it comes out of its motherýs womb and this only means is closed, another two means are opened to it, which are better and sweeter than the first!

The second means is pure and nourishing milk.

When he finished his suckling period and these two means are closed because of weaning, Allah opens four more perfect means; two kinds of foods and two kinds of drinks.

The two foods are from animals and plants and the two drinks are from water and milk, as well as whatever he likes from among other pleasures.

When he passes away, his four means are closed but Allah, the Exalted will open to him, if he was pious, eight doors of Paradise in order to enter Paradise from anyone of them, according to his wish.

So we notice that whenever Allah, the Exalted prevents His believing servant from something during this worldly life, He will bestow upon him something which is better and more useful to him. It should be noted that this is only granted to the believers. Allah preserves His servant from low and mean misfortunes and is not pleased when such fortunes comes to him, as He gives him a better and more valuable one.

The servant does not always recognize the generosity of Allah, His wisdom and kindness, nor does he always know the significant difference between what he was granted and what he was protected from. He is fond of matters being decided immediately even if they are mean, and refuses the latter ones even if they are better. If the servant could just treat Allah justly he would have known that the pleasures of this world that Allah has protected him from are better for him than those things which Allah may have granted him from these pleasures.

Allah prevented him from some of them in order to bestow upon him something that is better. He, the Almighty may have allowed him to be afflicted in order to protect him, tested to absolve him from sins, put him to death to resurrect him, and took him out of this world so as to stand in front of Him and follow the path that will bring him to Allah.

Saying of the Salaf: Dead Hearts Empty Supplication

It is reported that Ibrâhîm b. Adham (d162H) – Allâh have mercy on him – once passed through the market of Basrah. People gathered around him and asked:

O Abû Ishâq, Allâh the Exalted says in his Book. 'Call on me, I will answer your prayers', but we have been calling on Him for a long time and He does not answer our prayers. [Ibrâhîm] replied, "O people of Basrah, your hearts have died in respect to ten things:

First, you know Allâh but you do not give Him His rights;
Second, you have read Allâh's Book but you do not act by it;
Third, you claim to love Allâh's Messenger – Allâh's peace and blessings be upon him – yet you abandon his Sunnah;
Fourth, you claim to be enemies to Shaytân but you conform to [his ways];
Fifth, you say you love Paradise yet you do not work for it;
Sixth, you say you fear The Fire yet you put yourselves closer to it [by sinning];
Seventh, you say death is true but you do not prepare for it;
Eighth, you busy yourselves with the faults of others and disregard your own;
Ninth, you consume the favors of your Lord but are not grateful for them; and
Tenth, you bury your dead but take no lesson from them."

I will not leave anything Allâh's Messenger – Allâh's peace and blessings be upon him – did, except that I will also do it; for I fear that if I were to leave any of his commands and ways I would deviate.

After recording this narration, Ibn Battah states:

This, my brothers, is the greatest Siddîq (true believer i.e. Abû Bakr), fearing that he would fall into deviation if he were to leave any of the commandments of his Prophet – Allâh's peace and blessings be upon him. What then is to happen in a time in which people deride their Prophet and his commandments, and compete with each other and show off in contradicting him and mock his Sunnah? We ask Allâh to protect us from slipping and to save us from evil deeds.

THE PRINCIPLES OF AQEEDAH

By Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah

The additional text in italics after each point is a summary of the words of Ibn Taymiyyah in his Majmoo' al-Fataawaa

1. Everything which is in accord with the Book and the Authentic Sunnah is accepted by them and everything which is in opposition to it is treated as false by them.

The first thing which distinguishes the Ahl us-Sunnah wal- Jamaa'ah from all those besides them is the methodology with which they acquire their sciences (of the Deen) and the source of the Truth from which they derive their beliefs, concepts, acions of worship, dealings (with the people), their mode of conduct and their manners. The source of Knowledge and Truth in all the various branches of knowledge with the Ahl us-Sunnah is the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) . No words other than the words of Allaah come first and no guidance other that the guidance of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) comes first.

2. There is no one who is free from making mistakes (in the Deen) except the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu- alaihi-wasallam) .

The Ahl us-Sunnah do not regard anyone as being safe from error as regards the Deen except the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) . The scholars are not free from making mistakes but rather the words of everyone can either be accepted or rejected except those of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) . Therefore the words and statements of the scholars of the Ahl us-Sunnah by necessity follow or are in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and do not precede or go ahead of it.

3. The Ijmaa' (concensus) of the Salaf us-Saalih (Pious Predecessors) is regarded as a Sharee'ah proof which is necessary to hold on to for those who come after them.

And the Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah believe that the most knowledgeable of the creation as regards the Deen of Allaah after the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) are the Companions (ra) and the Salaf us-Saalih. Whatever they united/agreed upon from any of the affairs or matters of the Deen is free from being wrong and it is not [permissible] for anyone to leave it. Their Ijmaa is a Sharee'ah proof which it is obligatory to hold on to for those who come after them. All those who stick to their Ijmaa are [therefore] those who adhere strictly to their Jamaa'ah (group).

4. They do not accept or affirm any speech or Ijtihaad (Jurisprudence) except after having thrown it against these three sources: The Book, the Authentic Sunnah and Ijmaa' of the Salaf.

The Ahl us-Sunnah hold on to the [Sunnah] which the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) came with and adhere to the [Jamaa'ah] of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) and they are the Companions (ra) and whoever follows their way and adopts their methodology. They do not accept any Ijtihaad or any speech regardless of whom it comes from except after having referred it to the Book, the Authentic Sunnah and the Ijmaa of the Salaf.

5. They do not contradict the Qur'aan or the Sunnah with their 'Aql (Intellect) or opinions or analogies.

And (therefore) the Ahl us-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah do not rely upon, follow or cling except to the knowledge and the practise of the Salaf us-Saalih and whoever takes from them, sticks to their jamaa'ah and travels upon their trail and binds (and restricts) himself to their principles/foundati ons. And this is because the Companions (ra) learnt the tafseer (explanation) of the Qur'an and the Hadeeth from the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) , then taught it to the Taabi'een but did not put themselves before Allaah and His Messenger with an opinion, ones taste, ones intellect, sudden enlightenment (like that of the soofees) or other such things.

6. The Jamaa'ah (The Group that is united upon the Truth, which the Messenger (sallallaahu- alaihi-wasallam) came with, in terms of speech and action) is the means of Deliverance in this life and in the Hereafter.

The Ahl us-Sunnah therefore, hold fast to the Jamaa'ah of the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) turning away from the places of separation and difference, clinging tightly to the totality of the Book, the Sunnah and Ijmaa (unanimous agreement of the companions), whilst being far from the places of obscurity and unclarity (in the Book and the Sunnah) which separates and divides the united. And (this is because) the Jamaa'ah in (their estimation) is the means of Deliverance in this life and the Hereafter.

7. They do not make obligatory the acquaintance with a particular type of knowledge upon he who is incapable and which is befitting for the capable person only.

And the Ahl us-Sunnah believe in what the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) came with in its entirety, however, they differentiate between the one who is capable and the one who is not with regards to knowing what the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) came with in a detailed way. And this is a mighty principle: many trials have befallen (the Ummah) due to absence of its understanding.

Peace and Blessings upon the Messenger of Allaah, upon his Companions (ra) and all those who follow in their footsteps until the Day of Resurrection.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah, sal Allahu alayhi wa salla, said: "Seek out that which benefits you, seek help only from Allah and never say you can't do it. "If any adversity comes to you, do not say: 'If I had only acted in such-and-such a way, it would have been such-and-such; ' but instead, say: 'Allah has decreed (it) and what He willed, He has done,' for verily, (the word) (if)opens the way for the work of Satan." - Saheeh Muslim

From 'Abdul-'Aziz ibn 'Abdullah ibn Baz to my esteemed brother, may Allah guide you to useful knowledge and to act upon it! Amen. Peace be upon you!

I have received your letter dated 2/3/1394 A.H. May Allah guide you and grant you success! It included three questions about Wahhabism. Following is my answer:

Q 1: You asked about Wahhabism and whether it is a fifth Madh-hab (School of Jurisprudence) or follows one of the four Madh-habs.

A: The term Wahhabism is used by many people to refer to the call initiated by Imam Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab ibn Sulayman Al-Tamimy Al-Hanbaly (may Allah be merciful to him). He is called along with his followers 'Wahhabis'. Every knowledgeable person must have heard about Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab's movement (may Allah be merciful to him). He called for pure Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah) and warned people against all forms of Shirk (associating others with Allah in His Divinity or worship), such as supplicating to the dead, trees, rocks or the like. He (may Allah be merciful to him) followed in creedal matters the Madh-hab (School of Jurisprudence) of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) while in subsidiary matters he followed the Madh-hab of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal Al-Shaibany (may Allah be merciful to him). This is clear in the books and Fatwas (legal opinions) of Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab and in the books of his followers and offspring which are published. Imam Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab appeared at a time when Islam was alienated, the Arabian Peninsula and other areas were engulfed in ignorance and worshiping idols was widespread. So the Shaykh took it upon himself to strive and struggle, and devoted himself to destroying all means of misguidance.

He employed all the possible ways leading to the spread of Tawhid free from any kind of superstition. Allah, out of His Bounty, made Imam Muhammad ibn Sa'ud, Prince of Al-Dir'iyyah at that time, accept the call. Thus, the Prince, his sons, those under his authority and his followers supported the Imam, may Allah reward them, forgive them and grant their offspring success to all that pleases Him and to what sets right the affairs of His Servants! All regions of the Arabian Peninsula have lived under this righteous call to the present day. Thus, Imam Ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab's call was in accordance with the Qur'an and Sunnah (whatever is reported from the Prophet). Wahhabism is not a fifth Madh-hab as some ignorant and prejudiced people claim; rather, it is a call to the 'Aqidah (creed) of Salafiyyah (those following the way of the righteous predecessors) and a way of reviving the main aspects of Islam and Tawhid which was forgotten in the Arabian Peninsula.

Q 2: Do Wahhabis deny Shafa'ah (intercession) by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? A: Any wise person who has studied the biography of Imam Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhab and his followers know they are innocent of such a claim. The Imam (may Allah be merciful to him) wrote about Shafa'ah, especially Kitab Al-Tawhid (Book of Monotheism) and refuted the suspicions raised about the Messenger's Shafa'ah for his Ummah (nation based on one creed) on the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, it is known that the Shaykh (may Allah be merciful to him) and his followers did not deny the Shafa'ah of the Messenger (peace be upon him) and that of other prophets, angels, believers and children who die before puberty. However, they established it as Allah and His Messenger have commanded, treading the way of the Salaf in applying the evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah.Based on this, it is clear that claiming the Shaykh and his followers denied the Shafa'ah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is completely groundless. It bars people from the Way to Allah and involves spreading lies against Du'ah (callers) to Allah. However, the Shaykh (may Allah be merciful to him) and his followers only denied seeking Shafa'ah from the dead and the like. Shafa'ah can only be granted with the Permission of Allah to the intercessor and His being pleased with the one interceded for. Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) says:Surah Al-Baqarah, 2: 255 Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission. And:Surah Al-Najm, 53: 26 And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allâh has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with. And:Surah Al-Anbiya', 21: 28 …and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased. And they stand in awe for fear of Him. Allah (may He be Glorified) accepts only Tawhid, while the Mushriks (those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity or worship) will not benefit from the Shafa'ah. Allah (may He be Exalted) says:Surah Al-Muddathir, 74: 48 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) also says:Surah Ghafir, 40: 18 There will be no friend, nor an intercessor for the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers), who could be given heed to. We ask Allah to guide us all to what pleases Him and grant us safety from anything that displeases Him! Allah is the Grantor of success!

Ruling on offering congratulations at the beginning of the Hijri

What is the ruling on offering congratulations on the occasion of the Hijri new year and saying "Kull 'aam wa antum bi khayr" or praying for blessing, or sending a card with best wishes for blessings in the new year?

Praise be to Allaah.

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: What is the ruling on congratulating people on the occasion of the Hijri new year, and how should one reply to a person who offers congratulations?

He replied:

If someone offers you congratulations, then respond to him, but do not initiate such greetings. This is the correct view concerning this matter. So if a person says to you, for example, "Happy New Year", then you can say, "May Allaah make it a good and blessed year for you." But you should not initiate such a greeting, because I do not know of any report that the salaf [early generations of Islam] congratulated one another on the occasion of the new year, rather the salaf did not regard the first of Muharram as the first day of the new year until the caliphate of 'Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him.

Shaykh 'Abd al-Kareem al-Khudayr said concerning offering congratulations on the occasion of the hijri new year:

Praying for another Muslim in general terms, in phrases that are not meant as a kind of ritual on special occasions such as Eid, is acceptable, especially if what is meant by this greeting is friendship and to show a friendly face to one's fellow Muslim. Imaam Ahmad (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: "I do not initiate the greeting but if someone greets me I return the greeting, because responding to the greeting is obligatory. But being the first to offer congratulations is neither Sunnah nor forbidden.

Bismillah al-hamdulillaah wa salaatu wa salaam 'alaa rasoolillaah wa 'alaa aalihi wa sahbihi wa man tabi'a hudaahu wa bad.

The trails of today are very many. Innovations and mixing up innovators with the people of the sunnah and their outward call to the sunnah and salafiyyah is wide spread, for this reason one should be cautious. 'Abdullaah ibn 'Abbaas used to say, if a man said 'I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) or the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, we (used to) rush to him and went out to seek him, listening to him, but when the fitnah occurred they began asking about the men (who were narrating the knowledge) like how Ibn Seereen mentioned "we said: name to us your men" meaning they were known by whom they narrated from. So from there they would know if they would listen and accept or refuse and not listen. If that was the case in that time, then our time has more priority. It is a must that one determines and limits those whom he listens to, and from whom he reads from, and who he takes from, and (the works he) issues, and also who he sits with, this is very important. As for being a haatib layl (one who gathers wood at nigh i.e. blindly, heedlessly), listing to everyone and those who are unknown. No, it is feared that a trail will befall this one. Surely from the signs of success from Allaah and wanting good for his slave, it is uprightness and guidance that he helps him to sit, mix with and take from the people of the Sunnah. It is obligatory to have seriousness and diligence towards seeking out that which brings about success and guidance from Allaah, and Allah is the one who grants success.

بسم الله والحمدلله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله وعلى آله وصحبه ومن تبع هداه وبعد ، الفتن اليوم كثيرة جدا, والبدع كثيرة جدا, وتلبس المبتدعة بأهل السنة وإعلانهم للسنة والسلفية كثير جدا؛ لذلك ينبغي الحذر. وإذا كان عبدالله بن عباس يذكر أنهم كانوا إذا قال رجل : سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم, أو قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم , ابتدرناه ،يبادرونه, يشرئبون إليه, يسمعون منه ، لكن لما وقعت الفتنة صاروا يسألون عن الرجال كما ذكر ابن سيرين: (قلنا : سموا لنا رجالكم). أي يعرفون عمن ينقلون, ومن ثم من خلال النقلة يعرفون هل يسمعون ويقبلون,أم يرفضون ولا يسمعون. فهذا إذا كان في ذلك الزمان, ففي زماننا أولى,لابد أن يحدد الإنسان لمن يسمع, ولمن يقرأ, وعمن يأخذ ويصدر, وعند من يجلس, هذا مهم جدا, أما أن يكون حاطب ليل يسمع للجميع وللمجاهيل ,لا,هذا تخشى عليه الفتنة ، وإن من علامات وصور توفيق الله وإرادته بعبده الخير والصلاح والهداية أن يوفقه إلى مجالسة ومخالطة والأخذ عن أهل السنة ، فالواجب الجد والاجتهاد والتحري استجلابا لتوفيق الله وهدايته ، والله الموفق

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Till death do us part? The vow would really hold true in California if a Sacramento Web designer gets his way.

In a movement that seems ripped from the pages of Comedy Channel writers, John Marcotte wants to put a measure on the ballot next year to ban divorce in California.

The effort is meant to be a satirical statement after California voters outlawed gay marriage in 2008, largely on the argument that a ban is needed to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage. If that's the case, then Marcotte reasons voters should have no problem banning divorce.

"Since California has decided to protect traditional marriage, I think it would be hypocritical of us not to sacrifice some of our own rights to protect traditional marriage even more," the 38-year-old married father of two said.

Marcotte said he has collected dozens of signatures, including one from his wife of seven years. The initiative's Facebook fans have swelled to more than 1,100. Volunteers that include gay activists and members of a local comedy troupe have signed on to help.

Marcotte is looking into whether he can gather signatures online, as proponents are doing for another proposed 2010 initiative to repeal the gay marriage ban. But the odds are stacked against a campaign funded primarily by the sale of $12 T-shirts featuring bride and groom stick figures chained at the wrists.

Marcotte needs 694,354 valid signatures by March 22, a high hurdle in a state where the typical petition drive costs millions of dollars. Even if his proposed constitutional amendmentmade next year's ballot, it's not clear how voters would react.

Nationwide, about half of all marriages end in divorce.

Not surprisingly, Marcotte's campaign to make divorce in California illegal has divided those involved in last year's campaign for and against Proposition 8.

As much as everyone would like to see fewer divorces, making it illegal would be "impractical," said Ron Prentice, the executive director of the California Family Council who led a coalition of religious and conservative groups to qualify Proposition 8.

No other state bans divorce, and only a few countries, including the Philippines and Malta, do. The Roman Catholic Church also prohibits divorce but allows annulments. The California proposal would amend the state constitution to eliminate the ability of married couples to get divorced while allowing married couples to seek an annulment.

'Quite hilarious'
Prentice said proponents of traditional marriage only seek to strengthen the one man-one woman union.

"That's where our intention begins and ends," he said.

Jeffrey Taylor, a spokesman for Restore Equality 2010, a coalition of same-sex marriage activists seeking to repeal Proposition 8, said the coalition supports Marcotte's message but has no plans to join forces with him.

"We find it quite hilarious," Taylor said of the initiative.

Marcotte, who runs the comedy site BadMouth.net in his spare time, said he has received support from across the political spectrum. In addition to encouragement from gay marriage advocates, he has been interviewed by American Family Association, a Mississippi-based organization that contributed to last year's Yes on 8 campaign.

He was mentioned by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC's "Countdown" during his "World's Best Persons" segment for giving supporters of Proposition 8 their "comeuppance in California."

Marcotte, who is Catholic and voted against Proposition 8, views himself as an accidental activist. A registered Democrat, he led a "ban divorce" rally recently at the state Capitol in Sacramento to launch his effort and was pleasantly surprised at the turnout. About 50 people showed up, some holding signs that read, "You too can vote to take away civil rights from someone."

Marcotte stopped dozens of people during another signature drive in downtown Sacramento. Among them was Ryan Platt, 32, who said he signed the petition in support of his lesbian sister, even though he thinks it would be overturned if voters approved it.

The U.S. divorce rate is 47.9 percent, according to data provided by the National Center for Health Statistics reports. That figure, however, does not include California, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Louisiana and Minnesota because those six states no longer report their divorce rates to the center.California stopped because of budget problems, said Ralph Montano, a spokesman While most people would not support banning divorce, it does make sense for couples to be educated about the financial and emotional commitments of marriage, said Dan Couvrette, chief executive and publisher of Toronto-based Divorce Magazine. The publication has a circulation of 140,000, including a regional edition in Southern California.

"It's a worthwhile conversation to have," said Couvrette, who started the magazine in 1996 after going through his own divorce. "I don't think it's just a frivolous thought."

FASTING THE DAY OF 'ARAFAH:

The ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is the day of 'Arafah, since it is on this day that the pilgrims gather at the mountain plain of 'Arafah, praying and supplicating to their Lord. I

t is mustahabb (highly recommended) for those who are not pilgrims to fast on this day, since the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafah, so he said, "It expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year." [4]

Likewise, the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, 'There is no day on which Allaah frees people from the Fire more so than on the day of 'Arafah. He comes close to those (people standing on 'Arafah), and then He revels before His Angels saying, 'What are these people seeking." [5]

Imaam at-Tirmidhee (d.275H) - rahimahullaah – said, "The People of Knowledge consider it recommended to fast on the day of 'Arafah, except for those at 'Arafah." [6]

He said, "I hope that that is so." He said, "If you do not fear to be exposed by three verses of Allah's Book, then do so." The man asked, "And what are they?" He mentioned this verse:

Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allâh) on the people and you forget (to practise it) yourselves." (Baqarah 2:44)

And then asked, "Have you applied the implications of this verse?" He said, "No." Ibn 'Abbas then mentioned the second verse:

O you who believe! Why do you say that which you do not do? Most hateful it is with Allâh that you say that which you do not do. (As-Saff 61:2-3)

After that he asked, "Have you applied the implications of this verse?" He said, "No." He then mentioned the third verse regarding Shu'aib alayhi salaam:

"I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you." (Hud 11:88)

And then he asked, "Have you applied the implications of this verse? He said, "No." Ibn 'Abbas said, "Then begin with yourself."

Umar bin al Khattab, radi Allaahu anhu said:
"There is no excuse for anyone going astray thinking that he is upon guidance. Nor for abandoning guidance thinking it to be misguidance,since the affairs have been made clear, the proof established and the excuse cut off." (Ibn Battah "al-lbaantul-Kubraa" #162)

O Allaah! I ask You for guidance, piety, safety and well-being, and contentment and sufficiency."

Fasting the first Nine Days of Dhul-Hijjah is a Sunnah

Hunaydah ibn Khaalid narrated upon the authority of his wife who said, "Some of the wives of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) told me that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihiwasallam) used to fast the Day of 'Aashoorah, the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, and three days out of every month*." (Imam Ahmad, An-Nasaaee)

*- 13th, 14th, and 15th every month

Commentary: Imam An-Nawwawee (rahimahullaah) said with reference to fasting the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah,
quote: "It is extremely preferable to do so."

A questioner asked Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) the following question:

Question: Oh Shaikh, are there any authentic ahadith that mention fasting the first [nine] days of Dhul-Hijjah?

Answer by Shaikh al-'Uthaimeen:

"Fasting the first [nine] of Dhul-Hijjah is from the righteous actions without doubt.

And the Prophet salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said, "There are not any days in which righteous actions are done that are more beloved to Allaah than these ten days." They said, "Oh Messenger of Allaah, not even jihad in Allaah's cause?" He said, "Not even jihad in Allaah's cause, except for a man who left out with his self and his wealth, and he did not return with either."

So fasting is included in the general context of this hadith. And there appears a hadith stating that the Messenger of Allaah salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam used to fast the first ten of Dhul Hijjah, not counting the 'Eid [in other words, the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah] .

And Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal rahimahullaah takes this position and it is authentic. Fasting in the first ten [of Dhul-Hijjah, excluding the 'Eid] is sunnah. Yes."

Question:
Is it permissible to stand up out of respect for any national anthem, or any national flag?

Answer:

It is not permissible for the Muslim to stand up for any national anthem, nor any national flag out of respect. Rather, this is from the evil innovations which did not exist at the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), nor at the time of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radiyallaahu 'anhum). And this action negates the obligation of the completeness of Tawheed, and the purity of respect for Allaah alone, and it invites towards Shirk. And in this action is resemblance of the disbelievers, and blind following of them in their despicable customs, and deviating along with them in their extreme attitude towards their leaders and their ceremonies. Indeed the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) prohibited resembling them and emulating them. And the success is with Allaah. And may the Prayers and Peace be upon Muhammad and his Family and his Companions.

Acquire knowledge because doing so is good. Seeking it is worship. Reviewing it is glorifying Allah. Researching it is jihad. Teaching it to the ignorant is charity. Serving the scholars is a way of drawing near to Allah because knowledge is the path of ascension to the stations of Paradise. It is a companion in isolation and a comrade in distant lands. It speaks to you in solitude. It is a guide to prosperity and a shield against adversity. It beautifies one among friends and is a weapon against enemies. With it Allah elevates people and makes them guides and bellwethers of good. The scholars are people whose words are sought and whose actions are imitated. The angels long for the scholar's company and comfort them with their wings. Everything, the fish of the sea, the beasts of the earth, the predators of the land and sea, and the cattle pray that blessings come upon him.

This is because knowledge enlivens the heart against ignorance, illuminates the eyes against darkness, and strengthens the body. It transports the servants to the mansions of the select and the righteous and to the highest ranks in the world and in the Hereafter. Contemplating it is equivalent to fasting, and reviewing it is equivalent to the Night Prayer vigil. With it, kinship is united and the lawful is distinguished from the unlawful. Knowledge is an imam which leads to righteous actions. It is craved by the people destined for Paradise and shunned by people destined for Hell.

It is the Manhaj of the Salaf

Q: Is it true that Wahhabism antagonizes Al-ul-Bayt (members of the Prophet's extended Muslim family) and criticizes the Prophet (peace be upon him)? What is the essence of this Da`wah (call)? Why is it fought?

A: Wahhabism is attributed to Shaykh Imam Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab who died in 1206 A.H. (may Allah be merciful with him). He invited people to Allah (may He be Glorified) in Najd. He explained to people the essence of Tawhid (belief in the Oneness of Allah/ monotheism) and Shirk (associating others with Allah in His Divinity or worship). He invited people to worship Allah (may He be Glorified) alone and to abstain from worshipping the deceased whom they claimed to be Awliya' (pious people), Jinn, trees, and stones or sought their help, beseeched them, and made vows to them. He and the scholars who followed him explained to them that this is a form of major Shirk (associating others in worship with Allah). He (may Allah be merciful with him) started his call in the middle of the twelve Hijri century until his death in 1206 A.H. Imam Muhammad Ibn Sa`ud (may Allah be merciful with him) who is the grandfather of today's Royal Family of Al Sa`ud helped and supported him. He was also supported by all those who have knowledge of the guidance and the Truth with which Allah (may He be Exalted) sent Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His call spread in Najd and the surrounding villages. He was supported by the scholars of the Sunnah in Najd, Hijaz, Yemen, Egypt, Levant (the region covering Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine), Iraq, India, and so on. He called people to worship Allah (may He be Exalted) according to what He has revealed to

Muhammad (peace be upon him). He invited them to worship Allah alone, devote all acts of worship to Him, and fulfill the testimony of Faith (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah). He also called them to refrain from the practices of those who worship the graves and the Awliya' such as beseeching, seeking help, offering sacrifices, and making vows to others than Allah (may He be Exalted). However, some people showed hostility to his call out of their ignorance of the guidance and the true religion which was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) or due to following their whims. Shaykh Muhammad (may Allah be merciful with him) and his followers love Ahl-ul-Bayt who followed in his (peace be upon him) footsteps. They know their virtues and they draw closer to Allah (may He be Exalted) through loving them and asking Allah to forgive and bestow His mercy and pleasure upon them such as Al-`Abbas ibn `Abdul-Muttalib, the uncle of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his sons, the fourth Rightly-Guided Caliphs `Aly Ibn Abu Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and his sons; Al-Hasan, Al-Hussein, and Muhammad (may Allah be pleased with them), and the other members of Al-ul-Bayt who obeyed Allah and worshipped Him alone. The Wahhabis follow the Manhaj (methodology) of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) from among the Sahabah (companions of the Prophet, may Allah be pleased with them) and the Tabi`un (Followers, the generation after the Companions of the Prophet) in `Aqidah (creed), sayings, deeds and they hate whoever go against their Manhaj. This is the Truth which every Muslim should follow and call others to it. Allah (may He be Glorified) says, Indeed, in the Messenger of Allâh (Muhammad peace be upon him) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allâh and the Last Day, and remembers Allâh much.

Indeed, there has been an excellent example for you in Ibrâhîm (Abraham) and those with him, when they said to their people: “Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allâh: we have rejected you, and there has appeared between us and you hostility and hatred forever until you believe in Allâh Alone.” Allah (may He be Exalted) also says, And the foremost to embrace Islâm of the Muhâjirûn (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhâjirûn) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allâh is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The people of my generation are the best, then those who follow them, and then those who follow the latter." (Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)In his Khutbah (sermon), the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say, "The best of speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance brought by Muhammad. The most evil affairs are innovations; and every innovation is an error." (Related by Muslim in his Sahih (authentic) book of Hadith)He (peace be upon him) also said, You must follow my Sunnah and that of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs. Stick to them and hold fast to them. Avoid novelties, for every novelty is a Bid`ah (innovation in religion), and every Bid`ah is misguidance." There are many Hadith that stress this meaning.

Accordingly, the inquirer and others should know that the Wahhabis are the followers of Shaykh Muhammad Ibn `Abdul-Wahhab (may Allah be merciful with him) who supported and followed his call and invited people to it. They are not Mubtadi` (persons who introduce innovations in religion) and they neither show enmity towards Ahl-ul-Bayt

nor criticize the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They are following the footsteps of the Salaf from the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and those who follow them in righteousness. Their love for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) is genuine and is greater than their love for themselves, their parents, and all people, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "None of you believes until I am more beloved to them than their father, their children, and the entire human race."

It was also narrated that `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, “No, `Umar, you will not have true faith until I am dearer to you than your own self. `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) then said, “You are dearer to me than my own self.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Now, `Umar [you have true faith]." A believer should love the Prophet (peace be upon him) more than himself.

Following and adhering to his teachings and being aware of what contradicts them prove the sincere love to him. Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) says, Say (O Muhammad peace be upon him to mankind): “If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

Those who were hostile to this call are either ignorant of its teachings or following their whims, sacrificing their Hereafter for the sake of worldly gains, and supporting falsehood against the Truth out of ignorance or due to following whims. They are like the Jews who showed hostility towards our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his message, which Allah (may He be Exalted) sent him with, out of envy, hatred, and following their whims. We ask Allah to grant us safety and well-being.

One Day at a time It has been 8 Days Since my son Ibraheem Passed and I miss so much. But Keeping in Mind to stand firm upon Islam and Remembering Allaah's Decree.EveryDay because its Easy to Slip It sad Case when We loose are Place and forget that the QadrAllah is set and there is nothing we can do about it.

I often mention People want me angry and sad and Depressed even a Family member Called me last night and Said a Women just beat her 16 month old child to death and went on to Mention many more deaths in our area. And suddenly said" I'm going to finish the news Good night bye" I was Like Why would some one do that? Felt like it was test to see if i will break to pieces or something.... I couldn't Rest I ended having to Take a sleeping Pill which I'm trying not to Take but when the imagine of you Son plays in your head at this time i don't wanna see it at this time. I Can't or want look at New born baby Pictures one sister in particular did not send me any of her son and I really appreciate that Alhamdoulilah that's very thoughtful and sweet and I love her for the sake of Allah. Honestly I fight everyday with the Why's and If's and buts This is not how we Except a Decree May Allah Aid me in this because this is not of the Muslims because We should leave things that bring Doubt and Leads us to Question Allaah's Decree.

Surah al-Ma'idah 100-102: (100. Say: "Not equal are the bad things and the good things, even though the abundance of the bad may please you. '' So have Taqwa of Allah, O men of understanding in order that you may be successful.) (101. O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. But if you ask about them while the Qur'an is being revealed, they will be made plain to you. Allah has forgiven that, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.) (102. Before you, a community asked such questions, then on that account they became disbelievers.)

Al-Mutawakkil : One Who depends upon Allah

One of the names of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)

Narrated Ataa ibn Yasar who said: 'I met Abdullaah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Aas and asked him, "Tell me about the description of Allaah's Messenger which is mentioned in the Tawrah (i.e. Old Testament)." He replied, "Yes. By Allaah, he is described in the Tawrah with some of the qualities attributed to him in the Qur'aan as follows:

'O Prophet! We have sent you as a witness (for Allaah's True Religion), and a giver of glad tidings (to the faithful believers), and a warner (to the unbelievers) , and a guardian of the illiterates. You are My slave and My Messenger. I have named you "al-Mutawakkil" (who depends upon Allaah). You are neither discourteous, harsh, nor a noise-maker in the markets, and you do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness. Allaah will not let him (the Prophet) die until he makes straight the crooked people by making them say: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allaah," with which will be opened blind eyes and deaf ears and enveloped hearts."

Reported by al-Bukhaaree, no. 1997. [ Related by Bukhaaree in chapter dealing with the tafseer of Surah Fath.]

Question: Does rolling up the pants legs fall into the generality of the Prophet's (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) statement, "I have been commanded not to fold the hair or a garment in the prayer"?

Answer: Yes, it is included in that prohibition. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam)
commanded that the hair and the garment not be folded in the prayer and
during prostration. It is not appropriate for the person who is praying
to busy himself with any of this.
In reference to the matter of the person's pants being long,
then he must refrain from wearing pants with this length, and he must
correct this matter before he comes (to enter the prayer). In reference
to the principle, it is not permissible for the man to wear his
garments such that they fall beneath his ankles. Yet, in the prayer he
leaves the things (garments) to hang in their normal condition, and he
is not to fold or roll them up. Yes.

the Feeling of loosing my Son

This is hard to write and Even harder to think about it like 3:35am,and I woke up with something in my Thoat and left with thoughts if Ibraheem. I set and Type this is Tears because I'm trying to Heal and maintain my strength but it seems. a look a thought even hearing babies Makes me ball out cry. I Feel broken and Sick I held My Dead Little Ibraheem and at first i could not but all saw was Ismail in his face. but before I even looked at him I closed my eyes the night b4 and saw his Face and cried out of sleep. I had to Deliver Him vaginally i had to push my IbraHeem out that was not easy and I thought Oh Allaah is there chance for him to breathe but as i Held his lifeless body i Saw my self i saw My nose,My Lips ,Al so My husband. I don't know Lesson i'm to learn from this but I'm Proud to have been Ibraheem Mother and i will never forget him.I talked to him Read to him the Quran. This is the baby Allah bestowed to me And Praises be to Allaah for that.
to the All the people who Came to my aide and comforted me though this May Allah bless you I never felt so much support from my Islamic Family or my family and Friends. I don't know how to thank you. Myhusbad had to carry Ibraheem to his Janazah he told me it was honor to hold his baby and give him his rights. The Masjid made the Process Easier i didn't know what to do but i knew i wanted No autopsy to know why i left to Allah Ass wal Jal.
I had sister there @ Ibrahim Birth my husband came after he didn't want to see too much. Omg I miss Ibraheem so bad the tears want stop that come so often i feel to ball up and never stand again, but i know i have too i have Allaah, husband and Ismail to stand for ......

Theyy gave me a Keep sake box that hold his hat and a Blanket and a foot Mold. And a Picture which i didn't want this box makes it hard to cope. it can't be close to me i give it to my Mother. It was nice of them but this box is nothing to Keep for me. it bad enough i have his baby clothing sort though and Touch how will touch them. HOW!!!!!!!!!!! My God I feel broken in too i Feel like a Weak ball of flesh but here I stand. I think of Ismail and how i'm blessed to have him and to have ibraheem only for a little while. Now i to focus on other things and Remain Firm upon Islam, this thought me one thing life goes quick but we have to keep Allah first and remain steadfast,Emotionally any hearing of babies makes my heart sink but i have move on.

I Loved Ibraheem from the day i saw the positive sign and I will always. Please keep my family in your duaa I'm trying to hold on but Feel i will slip off sometime or some hour in deep saddness. SO help me keep going insha alllaah. I have never felt loss like this but I regret nothing Allah have bestowed on me as Muslim I had 33 weeks with my son and those were the best Masha allah. I love you Ibraheem i love you Ismail I love you Muhammad and I Love all of you your my family.

The Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh and the Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen are amongst the 72 sects

Question: May Allaah grant you the best (of His favours). In the hadeeth of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam), relating to the splitting of the Ummah, he says:

((…and my Ummah shall split into 73 sects…)).

So, is the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh, with what they have in terms of shirk and innovations; and also the Jamaa'ah al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen, with what they have in terms of partisanship and revolting/rebelling against the leaders and lack of obedience; from the 72 sects?

Response: They are from the 72 (sects). Whoever opposes the 'aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah enters the fold of the 72 (sects). The meaning of the Prophet's (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) statement ((My Ummah)) is: the Ummah of Ijaabah, i.e. the Ummah of response; those who responded to the Prophet's call and revealed their allegiance to him. And the meaning of 73 sects: the victorious sect which adhered to him and was upright in their religion and 72 of those sects - amongst them the kuffaar, the sinners and various innovators.

So, the questioners asked: Are these two groups (Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh and Jamaa'ah al-Ikhwaan al-Muslimeen) from amongst the 72 sects?

And the Shaykh responded: Yes, they are from the amongst the 72 sects, along with the Murji'ah and other than them; the Murji'ah and the Khawaarij - some of the people of knowledge regard the Khawaarij from amongst the kuffaar, out of the fold of Islaam although amongst the 72 sects.

The likeness [of the munâfiq] is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allâh took away their light and left them in darkness. So they could not see. They are deaf, dumb and blind, so they return not [to the Right Path]. (Quran 2:17)

Qatâdah – Allâh's mercy be upon him – said:

This is the likeness Allâh has given of the Hypocrite (munâfiq); he says lâ ilâha illallâh and with it marries into the Muslims, inherits from the Muslims, fights alongside the Muslims, and protects his blood and wealth. But when death comes, [the testimony of faith] has no basis in his heart, and no reality in his actions, so the munâfiq is stripped of it at death and left in darkness and blindness wondering therein, just as he was blind about the right of Allâh and obedience to Him in his worldly life and deaf to the truth.
